I cleaned all the things!!!

I am a horrible housekeeper. Seriously. I have all this time on my hands, and by now every corner of my house and yard and garage should be Suzy Homemaker perfect. But it isn't, and I neglect the hell out of it, until I can't stand it any more. So today I armed myself with all the cleaning equipment I could find, and bought new spray stuff that smells fabulous, and attacked!

Hours later, the house smells great (the red velvet soy candle I bought sure helps plus it is very pretty and reminds me of [livejournal.com profile] blue_fjords's cupcakes of awesome.) The floors are clean, walls scrubbed, bathtub and sinks shiny, kitchen clean, I can even walk through my hallway! No laundry baskets! We'll see how long this lasts. Two days maybe.

I managed yesterday to get all my stuff re: defensive driving turned in (though I had to fax a paper to the municipal court that dipstick here forgot at home) so that is all good, got my ESOP paperwork today so THAT is AWESOME, and the glow from winning unemployment has not diminished. Now all I need to do is do my taxes. Bah. Friday.

LOL I just realized that my 'state of me' format I was going to use was forgotten. Oh well.

Been working on my plot for my fantasy...attacking the worldbuilding, antagonist next. The method for plotting and planning is a little different than I've done before (the method we're following on my Saturday morning writing workshops), and I'm finding it really very helpful. Way helpful. For the first time, my 10-year's worth of jumbled notes and thoughts and characters and plot are starting to iron out. They are actually making sense! There may be hope for me yet. LOL. Next post--will write about that. I promised a couple of people I would yack about Writer's Journey, which ties into what I am doing with my Saturday group. Oh, and that Saturday group is after me to start blogging. Like real blogging? Like 'building your brand!' blogging. *headdesk* Given there are two of me, this is going to be a pain...

I wish I had more exciting stuff to write here, but alas, I can't think of anything!

Anyone watch Smallville? I'm on the sixth one. It is pretty fun (so many exploding things! so many deaths! so much weirdness!), is pretty entertaining though Lux baby confused me at first. Lex, I mean. LOL. I am intrigued by his characterization, as he starts out as a relatively good guy.

I need to go somewhere, so badly. ANYWHERE!!!!!!!!!! On a PLANE!!!!!

Tomorrow, tomorrow, maybe tomorrow will be an exciting day?

Get on a plane, come visit me to clean all the things! My brother's family is going to be descending on us next weekend, so I should probably clean, yes? Probably! :)

And soon you'll have real red velvet cupcakes!!!!!!

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL!! I totally should come see you when everything is blooming there.

[identity profile] misswinterhill.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
I used to watch Smallville - I think I did the first three series? I don't remember why I stopped, though, and I've never looked into the fandom. I have only heard it mentioned in a "my fandom is crazier than yours" battle.

Haaaa, your brand. I haven't even thought about what I'd call myself were I to try to write seriously.

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Jenny Winterhill! It really is perfect! 'Were' you to try to write seriously? /eyes you/ Don't think I've forgotten my vow to keep encouraging you to do just that!

I wrote like ... 3 small Smallville fics, I think. They should be buried in my LJ somewhere. LOL

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh tagless one though! Impossible to find them. I would love to read them though if you ever ran across them again.

Congratulations on cleaning all the things! Our house is just about reaching the stage where I feel I can't stand it any more and I will have to clean something. Actually, it's not the state of the house that has altered significantly, but we're getting a few bright sunny days and the sunshine is revealing dust and cobwebs that have remained invisible until now in the winter gloom. :)

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that could be it too--sunny days here, lovely weather--I even had to turn the a/c on briefly a couple of times this week! 2 story house, the kids 'burn up' up there (they claim). Stupid vaulted ceilings.

Good job on the cleaning! It's such a good feeling when the house is clean and tidy.

I guess it's starting to be standard for writers to keep author blogs. That seems like a lot of work, particularly if you have other online personas.

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, it is. My workshop leader person is all about the use of social media and she is really right... these days because of the fracturing of the publishing industry, the increase in ebook love, and the importance of social media, authors are finding success in the midst of the herd by selling themselves, branding themselves, rather than what they write. I totally see that. Since I have two separate entities that I absolutely do not want entwined (maybe someday it won't matter) I've got double the work ahead.

I see it working, though. My writing group kids--the four of them--run a book review site, www.book-addicts.com... and they have been making a name for themselves, watching their readership grow, etc. When they sell and have their first books come out (and I believe it will happen for at least two of them soon) they will have that readership to conceivably buy their books. Good start to staying published!

The problem is--I am not fond of blogging. At all. Sigh. I am told I need to get over it. LOL!!! And I do agree, but WHINE WHINE WHINE... Yeah.

COME TO LONDON! THAT REQUIRES A PLANE!

I am currently sharing a cube the size of a large walk-in closet. When we don't clean EVERYTHING the whole place looks cluttered and messy. We? Don't clean.

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I do desperately want to get over there but am afraid I won't until after you are gone! Sigh. Sucks.

I'm looking forward to your post on the plotting method! *bounces*

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay cool! I plan to do a few things around here and then head for barnes and noble...and it'll be fun I think. And hopefully helpful--I am learning all this myself re: fantasy writing, so it'll be helpful to me too.

Cleaaaannnn allllll the thiiiiiings!! LOL love that...

Cleaning in spurts is a habit I'm trying to break... well, it's a habit I WILL break once I move into the apartment. I was starting to break it here, but then I pretty much gave up on house cleaning once I signed the lease. ;-)

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Condo! your new home is The Condo! :)

Someday I will have a The Condo too--I do look forward to getting rid of this house and moving somewhere a wee bit more cool.

i love your "i cleaned all the things". i somewhat attacked my house yesterday. i tend to clean best when i'm upset so i was on crazy laundry mode all day. i didn't even know we owned all those towels...i don't think they've ever been all clean at the same time! LOL

and yes...smallville. i also came late to that party [which is odd because i totally love comic books and all that so...] i just finished season 7, waiting for season 8 to come to my library. lex is so..gah...i know his character but still, there is a silly part of me that kept thinking "despite him being a super villian in the comic books...maybe this lex will be sweet and cuddly and everyone will be happy..." i think i refused to admit he had any ulterior motives all the way up to season 6. haha. sometimes i just want characters to be happy and have no conflict. it's really kind of a flaw if you want anything interesting to happen. :)

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly! Same here on Lex! I had to go look up the wikipedia or wiki thing on Smallville rather to see what the writers did to him. :)

I have been incredibly lazy today. I was so good yesterday! But oh well...

[identity profile] caninepawprints.livejournal.com 2011-03-04 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
You sound like me with the housework! I'm a stay-at-home mom but I don't clean until it gets to the point I can't stand it.
