A Great Day for Compliments!

Man, the stars are aligned for me today for some reason--

Some woman, I definitely do not know, left me a lovely voice mail--a poem she wrote herself about love, and then she said "I love you. Call me when you get the chance." Um...well...this is so sad! WRONG PERSON! (I sent her a text message, have no idea if she got it--but hey, it was lovely and I enjoyed it very much!)

Then, Steve Kuzma, one of the Real Estate dudes from BNSF Railway I do tons of map work for (he gives me the greatest challenges--real puzzlers, and I always, always figure it out--which is why he comes to me lol). He told me, "I should bring you latte and a box of pastries for all you do for me!" I laughed and told him, no thanks, but a basket of fruit? That would be awesome! He looked at me all puzzled, then REALLY looked--and said WOW, you look fantastic!! (snort) Guys are so observant--the boss didn't realize, either, until one of the crazy women at Staubach pointed it out.

AND THEN!!!!!!

Went to Firehouse Deli and got a salad--they have great ones--and when I told the lady "no cheese, chili or salad dressing" she looked at me and said "weren't you here a few weeks ago? You look fabulous!"

AND THEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Leaving the deli, walking in front of the stores, some chick calls out from her car, "You look really cute!" I turned around and said, "Excuse me?" All puzzled here... And she said, "You look really cute!" I said THANKS! And left, laughing, escaping across the field.

3 women (ok really 2) and 1 old RR dude...but hey, I love every second of it.

Beats what happened in the ladies restroom yesterday, being told by one of the Staubach ladies, "So, I hear you're either sick, or starving yourself. Which is it?" GEESH!!!! I've lost 33 lbs since January 1. Yeah, that is fast, that is alot, but I have given it 100000%. It works.

I feel like one of those stupid ads in magazines, "I lost 30 lbs in 6 weeks, ask me how!" But the funny thing--I have, and all by eating fruits, veggies, and bison/chicken/fish/shrimp. Time to stabilize though--I do miss cheese!!!!

C

*throws confetti*

Congrats!!!! You win!!!

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL, I do. It is definitely time to stop losing, concentrate on stabilizing, and then firming up and getting ready to hike the Brecon Beacons with Nick in July.

Random acts of poetry--awesome!

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
YES! That's what it was, a Random Act of Poetry! Made me grin...I saved it. LOL.

Love the new icon, C! You DO look great! Post some pics.

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL I need to take some that aren't so dark--kinda hard in the bathroom. Snort.

[identity profile] elowena.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Speaking of which, you look fabulous in your icon. :)

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! You do in yours too!

Uh. Okay. LOL just kidding but maaaann if you ever stop using that one, I will be so confused.

You know Po, through here at least don't you? She nuked her lj. I am super super sad about that. I really loved reading about her life. Sigh.

I hope she comes back. Pout.

[identity profile] elowena.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Confused now? Bwahahaa. Nah, I'm kind of insanely in love with my icon (which, ironically, looks nothing like me), so I suspect I'll keep using it for all eternity.

I know Po both from LJ and IRL. It would be lovely if she decided to come back - she's done it before, so here's to hoping! Do you have her friended on Facebook? She said she'll still spend time on there and try to keep in touch with everyone that way.

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
LOLOL You are a redhead aren't you????

No, I don't do Facebook, but if you talk to her, tell her I am sad, and will miss her posts. I just don't have time nor inclination to do more than LJ. Facebook gives me the shivers. I would have to be not-me on there, as I would so not want to be me there. LOL.

[identity profile] elowena.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, that's right, we even had the convo about Facebook. But I'll be sure to let her know. :)

Right now, I have bluish-black and purple hair with roughly five more colours thrown in just for kicks, but my natural hair is a dull, dull light brown. I've had red hair on many occasions, though - it's a colour I keep going back to. I feel like a redhead, darn it! ;)

Hi Carolyn, I can't tell you how happy it made me to see what you'd written here... It's wonderful to know that what I wrote DID mean something to someone and wasn't simply annoying everyone. (I mean, you have to admit it -- I wrote pretty depressing stuff most of the time.) I feel like I have no life whatsoever half the time, so it feels weird to hear that someone actually likes reading about it. Heh :)

I really am sorry about leaving (especially so abruptly), but my life is really difficult at the moment, and let's just say that I needed a break from journals altogether. If I have nothing nice to say, than I'd rather not say anything at all, which I'm sure you understand. As I told people on my Facebook profile, I will DEEPLY miss LJ as I have been here for years and years now, and find it incredibly hard to not be reading my friends' insightful entries on a daily basis as I used to. But... I need this. At least for the time being. I need time to simply heal.

As I told you before, I would never force any of my friends to join FB if it's not their cup of tea. However, I must say that I'm crap when it comes to e-mail, phones or snailmail for that matter, so this does mean that staying in touch with you may get quite difficult :( I will try my best though, because I'm not willing to let you slip away!

*hugs real tight* Don't you worry, Po is still breathing.

Congrats! Wow - 33 since Jan 1 is a lot... but it sounds like you're being really healthy about it. And frankly, if you were starving yourself your body would have fought back my now and held on to it's extra pounds.
Yay for all the random compliments and surprises - the voicemail sounded awesome!

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL yeah--I'm maybe a little health-nutty, but it was the Brit show YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT that convinced me and the daughter to really examine what we are putting in our mouths. Her weight-loss is more gradual than mine, but she first did a colon cleanse that knocked out 8, and since eating this way-most of the time-has lost more. She indulges now and then on the bad stuff (pizza attack the other day) but I've held firm and hard-core. I also gave up diet soda completely. It took about 35 days before I was completely free of the cravings. That sure taught me so much.

I've been eating low calories for a long time now so adding calories back in is going to be HARD. LOL. I have to start slow, a little at a time. I refuse to allow myself to be overweight again.

It's because you're FA~ABULOUS!

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
No, YOU are fabulous! LOL.

[identity profile] aseas-words.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Hooray!!! That is a big achievement. And I'm glad people have been complimenting you.

Totally random, but I MISS Firehouse Deli. It was the best. Only time I ever chemical burned the skin off my tongue (co-worker dared me to let him put the habanero hot sauce on my sub. Yeah.). I loved their subs. :-D

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Awww oh no! Yeah the collection of hot sauces are really fun to look over. Egads lol I have only had one sub...then read the nutritional info later. Won't think about that... Grin.

What do they have for fun eats in Russia? I am curious.

I adore the salad though. It is awesome.

[identity profile] aseas-words.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
Fun eats... hmm... Blini, which is like a ginormous crepe, usually filled with meat or fried veggies or caviar or the like. Though you can get sweet blini with fruit fillings or sweet milk (basically sweetened condensed milk).

And lavash. Which is a ginormous sheet of thin, stretchy wheatbread. Kinda kinda like a tortilla but much thinner. It's grand fun to wrap all sorts of stuff up in lavash (though I've never actually seen a Russian eating it).

If you are really interested in Russian cuisine, you are hereby invited over to my journal of Russian happenings, where I wrote a careful post of food in this country as I have experienced it. http://alinrussia.livejournal.com/18767.html

Just saying congratulations! Belated, probably, but still, good for you!

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
YAY! Ahem. LOL Love the user pic. Grin.

I know... Really useful icon. It's by [livejournal.com profile] jhava.

[identity profile] candesgirl.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
33 pounds in about seven or eight weeks is a lot, but not unheard of and GOOD FOR YOU!! People love to say stupid shit like the woman in the ladies room, whatever. Congrats on the hard work paying off!

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it is a lot--daughter corrected me, she's a little over 20 in the same amount of time. A friend we had Christmas dinner with took pictures of us and sent them--got them today and we both freaked out. Man oh man. Never again.

[identity profile] nocluvok.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Goodness, I smiled so much when I read your post my face hurts. Course, I thought you were pretty when we met oh-so-long ago.

Not too sure how I feel about the whole "guys being so observant" thing though. I mean really, can you honestly blame a guy for getting tongue-tied around a pretty woman?
Saying nothing also keeps us from getting sued for sexual harassment.
Sometimes its the lesser of two evils to say nothing. Kinda like that cereal commercial when the woman finally asks, "What's the box telling you now?"
"Uh...shut up, Steve."

And while we're on the subject, I'll have you know I cleaned the house and did the laundry yesterday and my wife didn't even notice when she got home from work. Geez, there wasn't even a dish left in the sink!

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
LOL you saw me at a thin point before--the last one, and not this good. Grin. You are silly.

And man...that sucks about the house. How she like her new job???

[identity profile] nocluvok.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Haven't heard anything about the house. We're hoping in this case that no news is good news. Kathy likes the job okay, she just isn't thrilled with the gossip. In a town our size, everybody seems to know everybody's business.

[identity profile] elbavolnu.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
:) I'm glad you had a great day

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
thank you!!!!!!! Needed that badly. Grin.
