26 days until I fly...

The NickTrip is getting closer! I can't believe it, but soon soon soon I'll be hopping on that plane that will get me to Hamburg. OMG SO MUCH TO DO!

I know Nick's posted already about this, but he suggested I drop a line to see if anyone wants postcards. He said 'from Cardiff' which LOL is fine, but heck I'll be in Germany too, so if you want one from Hamburg (or Cardiff!) just give a holler (pm me) and I'll add you to the list.

I can't believe so much time has passed since Nick was here. *sighs* Time has both flown and dragged. I really can't wait, especially since there is less of me to hug now. LOL.

Now to decide what to wear on the plane...that will stay fresh-looking and awesome for what, 16 hours or so? Ha! Right. (and then, after a brief hello to Hamburg, we're BACK on the plane and heading for London! OMG!)

SO MUCH TO DO!!!!

Hey! I would suggest comfy clothes and layers. Nothing too tight. Something sleeveless and either a long-sleeved shirt or a cardigan-type thing. Plus, comfy shoes! As far as looking fresh...well, not sure what the flight policy is on the size of makeup you can bring onboard w/ you, but you can at least bring a brush and gum. And, of course, a smile!

This last bit of cheese brought to you by my rum and coke. Yum.

Okay, here's what you do.

Pick out an outfit that compresses easily and does not wrinkle, including clean undies/bra/socks. Put that in a plastic bag in your carryon luggage. Also pack the following: deodorant, Olay Face cleansing wipes (the kind you add water to and scrub), witch hazel gel (can buy at whole foods), some really, really good lotion, and toothbrush/toothpaste/hairbrush.

About an hour before landing, go to the bathroom with your stash, strip, scrub (that's what the Olay wipes are for), pat yourself dry, and put on the clean clothes. You feel so much better. Witch hazel goes under your eyes to get rid of puffy.

The Olay wipes are better than baby wipes for flying as they are dry. Baby wipes are stored in liquid and may be confiscated. Just use a wet paper towel after to get the soap off.

Since you won't have washed your hair, putting it in an updo will make it look like you planned it and not that you forgot to wash your hair--the oils in the hair will help it stay better. If your hair is short, a dab of product helps.

If you're like me and your skin and eyes tend to get red when you fly (oh, do they ever), do NOT under any circumstances wear red, black, white, or purple near your face (a black skirt, say, is fine). It will make you look florid and tired. Navy blue is good, cream, soft teal, the like, will keep you from looking too red.

Since you're doing all this, and you save your good clothes for the end of your journey, it means you can fly in the supreme comfort of your favorite pajamas on the way! I have rocked up to the airport wearing jammies more than once. People give you funny looks, but once you're snug-a-bug on the plane, you can see the light come on.

Something like this is a MUST: http://www.imakproducts.com/product.php?c=Orthopedic+Support&s=13

I usually put the airline travel pillow in the small of my back and use this for my neck.

I assume you're flying Lufthansa? Be warned that they fly Airbus planes, which are not well-designed ergonomically. You may be more comfortable if you have a bag under your seat to use as a foot rest and some kind of cushion to put under your forearms. In my experience, the armrests are too low for normal-sized people (good for midgets), leaving your arms, rib cage, and head poorly supported.
