Blue Gillespie - Cave Country Part 2

I was ordered by [livejournal.com profile] cruentum to post that I love the music found here:  Blue Gillespie

I am, if anything, obedient.

But only if I want to be.

Go listen. Be surprised. I sure was.

Dude, that was so much better than what else I've heard of their music.

I want him to read poetry to me 24/7. OMG, that voice. Damn.

I KNOW! I was SO SHOCKED! Nick hasn't listened--he ordered the CD's, but wanted me to listen. I grumbled and moaned and he poked and prodded so I finally did--AND LOVE IT! YES!

He needs to keep doing this. The guitar too--whoa. LOVE IT!

Will order soon as I have the moolah aka when August is finally done sapping me penniless. LOL.

After I emailed with the woman, Justine is it, who sells the merchandise and she said to let her know what I think, I figured it'd sound better to say I MADE ALL MY FRIENDS LISTEN! rather than WOW, HE ISN'T SINGING IN WEEVIL ANYMORE! LOL ... I'm only being, like, polite and shit.

Janet must be prancing during the weevil songs, for sure. It's like a love serenade.

And yknow what, I never would, because the 95% massive annoying fanbrats at the event would make me go "I'm so not part of this at all", let's face it, 90% of the fanbase the band has is due to GDL playing that guy on a telly show which isn't a bad thing, I mean, whatever sells, you know, but I'd be all embarrassment squicky like I was when fans asked Gareth to recite some of his lines from S2 during a signing last weekend. Just- don't get the person-cult much.

That said, I bought the bloody CDs so I should shut up :P

o, no, i get that - i was totally like that at torchsong, i just cringed a whole lot
i would go to this event, though, b/c it sounds a lot like 'the dirty art show' we have here in the D only with live music

It sounds like fun but if I stumble over people with Torchwood-clad bears and shit i'd be WTFing and hiding in a corner, yknow what I mean. I'm just not that kind of fan. Sure I'd do GDL and Bman, but I'm hardly going to go heart-shaped eyes and high-pitched giggling and fainting-attempts.

[identity profile] kel-reiley.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 11:17 am (UTC)(link)
you can hang out with me - we'll be over in the corner drinking vodka and rocking out to the music

[identity profile] blue-fjords.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? B/c I totes wanted to see the heart-shaped eyes! :(

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 11:22 am (UTC)(link)
LOL I know. Cracks me up. And he is so proud of himself for it, too! I was really surprised though as I don't care for the other stuff. It's just not my cup of tea at all. But this? Oh yeah, what a real real surprise it is. Very cool. GDL needs to do more like these songs.

[identity profile] kel-reiley.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 11:24 am (UTC)(link)
i've only listened to it once and i don't think i've heard any of the other stuff, except that one cover of 'road house blues' which i liked

[identity profile] gypsylady.livejournal.com 2009-08-26 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
OMG! He learned how to speak sans too many cusswords or references to bodily functions! Dying on screen seems to have been good for his maturity or something.

Then again, it does seem a bit like JandyT's lyrics. Not quite so weevil-ish and his voice is impressive and...um...melodic. But still...(And when did he turn tenor? Or has he always been but the screaming obscured it?)

I just ordered the CD myself. When I ordered Cave Country I it arrived faster than some things I've gotten from the US. Someone who is in touch with the merchandising lady (she must work for the equine podiatry supply place or whatever it is) should tell her it's somewhat impressive.

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2009-08-26 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
LOL yeah, the weevil-singing is not for me. But these songs? Yeah, I like them. :)

The merchandise lady did ask me to tell her what I thought (in a polite throw-away line) so I might drop her that one when I say NO MORE WEEVIL, YO! lol

[identity profile] bluejeans07.livejournal.com 2009-08-26 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
I listened to it while working. First track made me crack up like nothing! Janet and the lyricist seem to share the same muse. XD Songs are good, his singing improved!

I used to play in a garage band, and our sound and the first BG album are on a similar par with one another. You can take that statement of quality however you like.

I'm curious about this one, though. I should probably listen when I'm somewhere listening-friendly.
