So, for the last two weeks or so, I've had this itchy neck on one side that is slowly but surely driving me mad. It went from one little mark on my neck to all around the side, painful welts that look, frankly, as if I'd tried to hang myself and failed. Rope burns! And boy does it burn.

I woke up this morning literally in the midst of scratching the hell out of my neck. And in PAIN. WTH!?!?!!?!??!?!? *cries* I went on to work, and it just hurt and got worse and itched like the dickens, truly sending me over the brink. I could take it no more--took a picture and sent it to Nick and Mander and Blue, and they freaked suitably and yelled (in Unison!) GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!

So I did, and it turns out I did indeed have something evil and horrible, but not uncommon. Probably aggravated by the humidity, my tendency to sleep curled up on that side and wrapped up in a blanket with a fan blowing full-tilt on me not helping.

SO! I have two drugs to take, and all should be well. I am just ready for the pain to stop!

Car saga continues. Did not get home with proper paperwork to get the kid onto the loan, so he could build credit, dammit. Future-car: Volkswagen Jetta, around a 2004. Blue, Black, Silver, but please no red or green, yeah. I have my eye on a really nice blue one but if it isn't still available next Tuesday or so, then oh well, there are others.

Our new Admin is shaping us up fast. After 2 months without an admin, then three years with a bitchy, gripey, problematical one, Yvonne is Heavenly. I like her alot, and the boss is one happy camper, working with someone who actually gives a damn.

Since I had the doc appointment, and Nick went to bed early, I headed for Starbucks to work on my Loose-Id fic. No writing group tonight--all of us except Cid displaced.:*( (we still kept tabs on each other--or Cid did, anyway!) Egads whittling down to under 100k is a challenge. But, I got through 40 pages tonight, reading through and marking hard-copy, and making sure the new cut-up and half-rewritten version still works. Yes it does!

I am amazed how much fun having a local writing group is. We're meeting Sunday at B&N Downtown to write--this is more a writing support group than anything, and really, that is exactly what I enjoy. Good times!

Okay that is all for now! See? Quick and boring post!

Oh one more thing:

For those of you who enjoy Torchwood fanfiction, check out the brilliant and bizarre but wonderful [livejournal.com profile] fishponies and their new story. I beta them (them being Nick and Mander). It is a rare and wonderful thing when two writers come together and create a third--that is Fishponies! Those two--how I adore them, even as I scratch my head (and not because of the above ailment, either!)

Glad to hear the Doc was able to give you something. Did not realize you had been suffering. That can't have been fun.

Was reading this Austen P&P from the viewpoint of Darcy thing and then went to write my daily allotment and found that brooch Darcy was just the voice I needed in my head for Vincent! Of course then I got distracted by the dorkiness that is Barrowman on Twitter. But story is coming along I think. I hope.

Must go harvest my rice and think about bed!

Okay, NOW I'm up to date on your medical drama! And your car drama!

And I'm SO glad you found a local writing group that doesn't just meet to critique. Ours pretty much only met for that purpose when we were really running, and now we mostly meet to eat dinner and catch up, and maybe share work if any of us have done any.

Yay for doctors! I had to be quite stern with a colleague of mine yesterday about going to see one, which amused the rest of the office :)

And a good admin is a thing of beauty and a joy for how ever long they stay. Which makes them sound fickle, but mostly I was going for the wondrous aspect there.

Good to hear that in spite of car loans, discomfort, and other distractions, YOU GOT EDITING DONE LAST NIGHT. Yay! Wish I could say the same!

Hope you slept well and are on top of the fungus among us today. XO

she is close to 60, fought off over 400 other applicants and knows it, and says 'this is my last job' so that is that. And it will be--my work is a really brilliant place to work (most of us have been here forever--me 9 years). People do leave, the last three because they screwed up royally, the idiot, and there was no choice. That included the last admin, who was HORRIBLE and we were all very glad when finally all the attempts to fix things were given up on and she was booted out. She had no concept of what an admin should be--Yvonne does. YES!

We are all rather stunned. She makes the coffee. She made a new phone list which hadn't been updated in two years--I kid you not. She orders things. She UNDERSTANDS COMPUTERS OMG!!!! It is crazy!!! And she rounds us up and makes us tell her stuff--like, catered lunch we are having today, none of that wishywashywhinywhattoeat--she said 'these are your choices. Which one, and that is that.' BRILLIANT!

My boss has a terrible time with his blood pressure--two weeks of Yvonne and his doctor is beaming. INSANE!

And my neck is better already! YES! YAY MEDS!

Enjoy the drugs, yo!

I downloaded the Fishponies so I could read it sans internet. Working late until next Friday, woo hoo, but tomorrow's Saturday, hallelujah! Cannot wait.

And three cheers for Yvonne!

Sounds painful, at least the Doctor was able to prescribe something. Hope you get well soon.

We are attackign downtown Fort Worth Sunday at 11:30 and gonna work work work work. It gets me OUT and doing things other than sitting around and petting the dogs all weekend. Which they love of course, but still...

That is so cool. Our TA, who takes care of our managers, takes care of us, and is generally awesome, got asked by the new person in our team if she would be able to type up his meeting minutes. One of our mangers ended up explaining to new guy (in private, I should stress, I only know because K and I are friends) what exactly it is that K does and doesn't do in her job. Because we love her and she makes our team actually run properly.

And because seriously, you can't type up your own meeting minutes?

He also called her 'kiddo' the other day (she is 20), which makes me worry that he has some old school ideas that are rather out of place, but I am giving him the benefit of the doubt over that and hoping that it was just an unfortunate choice of words.

Point being: we like to keep the people who run the filing, meetings, and receipts happy.
