Yes, it is. My workshop leader person is all about the use of social media and she is really right... these days because of the fracturing of the publishing industry, the increase in ebook love, and the importance of social media, authors are finding success in the midst of the herd by selling themselves, branding themselves, rather than what they write. I totally see that. Since I have two separate entities that I absolutely do not want entwined (maybe someday it won't matter) I've got double the work ahead.
I see it working, though. My writing group kids--the four of them--run a book review site, www.book-addicts.com... and they have been making a name for themselves, watching their readership grow, etc. When they sell and have their first books come out (and I believe it will happen for at least two of them soon) they will have that readership to conceivably buy their books. Good start to staying published!
The problem is--I am not fond of blogging. At all. Sigh. I am told I need to get over it. LOL!!! And I do agree, but WHINE WHINE WHINE... Yeah.
