Carolyn! Long time no chat, and even now I'm only reappearing at your virtual doorstep to beg for travel advice! My mum and I are taking a two-week trip to England and Wales, and planning it has proven more difficult than I thought. I wanted to go to Cardiff, but there's a football tournament and absolutely everything is booked solid. I also wanted to go hiking in or around Brecon Beacons, but again, all the websites I've found say everything is booked. I'm sure (I hope?) this is not the whole truth, but I just don't know where to look for places that don't advertise on the major accommodation websites.
Where did you stay on your trips to Wales? Any recommendations? I really don't have a particular place in mind. My only requirements are that a)we can get there using public transportation (we can take a taxi for a little bit if needed), and b)there's somewhere to hike to/marvel at nearby.
