I wonder sometimes, when I know there is no one at home for the night except the dogs, if I purposely find ways to avoid going there. Tonight I did so by going shopping. Yes, I needed to get some new shirts thanks to the new policy at work (saying bye bye to our daily jean wearing really pisses me off) but I really dragged it out. I didn't get home until almost 8:00. I went to Wal-Mart, trying to find some cheapo brown shoes (out of luck) but what I did find there was a huge case of the blues. Being so alone while shopping, going home to an empty house, well...no fun. I guess I'll get used to it, but I am just not. I shook it off, thinking about Nick, knowing that we'll talk in just a little while. I make it a rule not to depend on Nick for my happiness, but having him sure makes the blues a little less difficult. Still, I long for the day that he is here. I love being with him. Just do.

I hate it when I get mopey.

Tiff got to Atlanta. It was nuts, as I had her at the airport at 12:00. She was to leave at 1:15--they finally got out at 6:15. Weather! I swear, North Texas has become so incredibly SOGGY!!! I don't mind the 80's, but this rain rain and more rain is just downright weird.

Work has started to get very complicated.

OOOO I want Lumineers! I want!!!!!!

Okay back to work. Today, Chris handed all map requests for Kevin. This is both a relief and a big sadness. I love doing map requests, but I simply can't do them anymore, and do the big research projects that are now coming my way. So now Kevin is doing them, until we can get more help.

As for me, I have six huge projects in process. Two will take me to Corporate Support, argh. Argh argh. I need to be divided and divided again, I swear. Yes, I am whining...still hoping each day will be better than the one before. Hope hope hope.

Writing--*quirky smile*. Will talk about that later. At least mine. I'm going to pimp a story though...next post though. It deserves to be all by itself. :)

I can finally do this, because Nick has posted here with his journal and so isn't in hiding anymore. I love it.

Earlier this year, we both signed up for a Harry Potter genfic exchange--aka, NOT slash. Pure gen, all pure and good. Well, as compared to slash anyway. While I wrote a silly little Neville fic, Nick took on a huge personal challenge and wrote a dark and brilliant post-war story with Snape as the POV character. It was so much fun going through this with him, being a part of him discovering the joy (and frustrations) of working through and creating a really good, complete story. There's nothing like the first time! Oh yeah. It's starting to get read more and more which I absolutely love seeing. (And of course, I long for him to challenge original fiction next--but uni is in full swing again, alas, so that will have to wait.) It's in four parts, the first listed below.

Read it.

wonder if Nick will fuss at me for this? Probably.
