Okay this is getting downright weird.

Red came out two years ago. It's sold pretty well (actually, very nicely)--I get a fan letter here and there, now and then...maybe one or two a month or so.

Lately--just this past week, in fact, I've received five. Five? LOL. I'm so not complaining, just curious...and so was Nick. So he googled the books title...and came up with all sorts of little goodies. Discussion on Amazon, a couple reviews I hadn't seen. Found a bit about it on Good Reads and on Library Thing. How about them apples. When I wrote this book originally, I certainly never imagined it would be read by so many and it seems enjoyed too.

Most I hear from just want to say that they enjoyed it, which was great...but I did receive one email yesterday that really tugged at me. It was sent by a young man who hadn't quite finished the book, but told me that when he came out to his family, he experienced the kind of trauma at the hands of his brother that one of my characters did. No doubt what he (and Brandon) experienced happen all the time. I just have to hope the young man finds the sort of peace that Brandon did. Eventually. I hope I hear from him after he's finished reading the whole book.

Tonight's B&N crowd was almost non-existent. Newspaper man got there late (and lost his place to bible man). Tutor woman was not there, and no loud girls. It was strange. LOL. Funny how a crowded B&N makes me feel like being productive more than a quiet one. Still got my words in, scene done. Yes! Six days in a row (despite 2 sessions being nuked!).

We easily snagged our pillar tables (I should take a picture of it). I did take a picture of Nick being silly:

And being writerly:

And now, I must trot off to [livejournal.com profile] katilara's lj to read all about her adventure going to see John Green, author of Paper Towns (and one-half of Brothers 2.0 and if you do not know what that is, or who he is, or who is brother Hank is?...it's never too late to be a nerdfighter!)

Lunch w/Nick, who is in the office with me today. I didn't ask the boss if N could come for the day...but he (boss) doesn't care. In fact, accused me of not being nice to N! LOL. Always nice!!!! If only boss knew how spoiled N is! Really! (And I just noticed Nick is SPYING on me as I write this--peering over my shoulder--STOP THAT!)

We went to lunch across the street at Buffalo Wings & Rings. New place, still smells like paint, lots of variety food-wise...and no customers. Obviously, they need to get the word out to the Railroad that they are open. I love their chicken tenders, but we had a gyro quesadilla appetizer for two. Lots of onions. Break out the gum.

After going to Starbucks and purchasing a triple shot venti vanilla latte for Nick (who has moaned all morning about lack of caffeinated energy) we're back in the office...birthday cake and ice cream at 1:30. Woo!

In addition to the original fic writing, the nano-non-nanowriting, the TW fic exchange thing...I'm going to write, more for get-the-writerly-blood-flowing benefits than anything, a series of TW Andy-centric fics. Nick and I brainstormed a setup at lunch today (okay Nick said, "Do this!" and I said, "Yes! GREAT!"). Now my fingers are itchy to get started. LOL.

First though--Killer Scene Must Be Written for the above exchange-thingy...and then one more, the wrap-up scene after that, and done. YAY! Me, with a Ianto/Jack fic? Crazy. A leetle one, ending up around 8,000-9,000 words, I think. I've not written anything like this before (action scene!) and it is alot of fun. I normally hate canoncanoncanon but TW has lots of leeway and room to rumble. Still, I look very forward to concentrating on the side character for my little writing exercises. (Especially given this character is, actually, who I am using as my protagonist in an original fic, so...double the fun).

Okay sigh okay fine lunch hour over (lol) I guess I have to be good. This has been a weird week at work--struggling to find things to do and with having to account for every single hour--billable hours here--it sucks.
