Like many Siberian Husky owners, I have a fascination with wolves. Huskies are very wolf-like in appearance: I've lost count of the times I've been asked by well-meaning strangers if Maddox was a wolf. Many people see Huskies and assume, even if they know the husky is not a wolf, the husky must nevertheless act like a wolf, and thus must  be mean.   Not that wolves are mean...they are just...wolves.  And, naturally shy of humans.

Anyone who has met our two, Maddox (my dog) and Shelby (Nick's dog....I just keep her here with Maddox, you know...) knows how ridiculous that accusation is. These two are sweethearts, creampuffs, lazy wonderful loving licky silly dogs with great personalities. Siberian Huskies are cat-like, they howl and yammer and talk and woo rather than bark, though lol I do know one husky girl who barks, much to her owner's dismay.

Since becoming owned by these characters, I've learned alot about wolves, pack behavior, habitat, etc. I even wrote a wolf character, Navarre (from Lady Hawk) on Insanejournal in an rpg we were on--he was stuck in wolf form, much to his dismay. And much to the mods' dismay...they let me know they were not pleased I never got my wolf out of his wolf form! Hmph. So much for that. Whatever.

And now, my love of wolves has led me to become fascinated with Being Human's werewolf character, George. Okay, okay, Russell Tovey who plays George is what makes me fascinated with werewolf George... lol I just read, had not realized, that at one point he was considered a possibility for the next Doctor. Thank goodness that didn't happen, since we'll be getting another series of Being Human. Thank heavens!

In any case, all this wolf-love causes me from time to time to take a peek around and see if there is anything new and different going on with the status of wolves in the U.S. Tonight I happened on this great wolf blog from the Red River Zoo in Fargo, ND.   There are lots of cool videos, a snowman too!  and, hmm, there is a picture of one of the wolves standing over another wolf, in 'standing over' position.  Uh, Maddox does that to me all the time when I'm in my bed reading-- I think I better look that up, and see what it is supposed to mean.

Or maybe I don't want to know.  LOL.   See here:  wolves

In other news, I have asked someone to be my beta for the [livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest .  I hope she says yes.  She's a Stargate writer, a Brit, and I like her writing though I know nothing about her fandom.  I still can't believe I am doing this fest, but I am having fun with it, too.

Rewrite lumbers along.  Got a goodly amount done today, not near enough this weekend.  Ballet boy is on temporary hold, and I am starting to get antsy to get back to it.

I have the most gorgeous ball-thing of yarn ever, handspun by [livejournal.com profile] sanginmychains.  It is so gorgeous, and no I do not knit! Yet!  Right now, it is sitting on my desk in a clear bag so I can admire it.  It is just lovely--and it leaves me amazed at how gorgeous it is, and was hand-spun right in Sang's living room!  So cool!

Let's see what else? This is turning into a catch-up post. Oh, I put my foot down re: associating with my crazy sister-in-law.  My MIL is upset about this--but she has told me so many times that she was done with Mary, well, and I have, several times, tried to take the high road and insisted the kids do to, and make nice with Mary, but her manipulating ways reached too deep this week.  I am done with her, for good.  So are my kids.  Either my MIL will accept this or not...

Not much else. Watching alot of telly, some with Nick, some not.  Prefer with, as it is more fun.  But he's back on German-time, sigh (hard to believe a year ago, he was RIGHT HERE BESIDE ME dammit), and it is taking some getting used to, these long evening without him.  Don't much care for it, honestly, but it is the way it has to be right now.  Thesis first!

Am behind on everything else, from TW3 to TWU to just reading TW fics that I want to read, and the books I am reading, but I either have time for writing or reading, not both usually, so...writing wins for the immediate future.

Amazon? Damn.  *shakes head*

81 days until Nick and I see each other again.
