Looks like it has been a couple of weeks since I made a post. Oops. What HAVE I been doing? Um...must not have been exciting as I can't seem to think of anything.

This is the last weekend of [livejournal.com profile] writerinadrawer. Please run over and read the last three entries and vote! And vote for this one: ____________ because it is of course Nick's and I want him to win. LOL. But, if he doesn't, I'm enormously thrilled he is in the final three, especially since he was voted out and had to fight to get back in. Beams. Just so cool, that.

[livejournal.com profile] used_songs did that user pic meme floating around, and I thought it interesting, so I asked her to zap me. Here are the ones she wanted to know about:

Photobucket

This is my "I AM SO FRUSTRATED WITH WRITING!" user pic. I used to use it alot--back when I was writing alot. I haven't been writing alot in a long time, therefore it is seldom used. However, changes are happening in that department. I'm all signed up as cparagraphs with nanowrimo (add me!), and have decided on the fic to write, with Blue's and [livejournal.com profile] talekyn's assistance. Everything else has been thrown out. On a whim, and because, well, I wanted to, I signed up for a writing class in October through www.writersonline.com. I'll share more about that later, but what I do in October with the class will be what I work on in November. Maybe then, I'll find reason to use this user pic more!

My precious Navarre! This was the main icon for a character I played over at Insane Journal in an rpg Nick and I joined before we became consumed with Torchwood. It was a multi-fandom rpg, it is where we met the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] momebie (who we later traveled to Florida to see when Nick was here the first time, and who remains a very special friend) and also where the interest in Torchwood was born. Neither of us knew anything about Doctor Who or Torchwood before then so I guess we can blame our time in the Seaside rpg for where we are today.

If you know the story of Ladyhawke, you know that the wolf is Captain Etienne Navarre's nighttime shape. I chose to make Navarre unable to shapeshift--a choice which highly annoyed the mods. LOL. I got lectured at one point for keeping him a wolf! I enjoyed him though--he was great friends with The Luggage, and with L from Death Note. L in fact (played by Nick) helped Navarre with a computer that enabled him to converse with others. That rpg died out eventually--but for awhile there, some great fun was to be had.

I miss him. I miss writing so free.

This is my local Barnes and Noble. I hang out there now and then with my laptop, Nick and I did alot when he was here. So much in fact that when he left, for a long time I didn't go back. It made me too sad. I actually am not sure why I have this user pic--it is likely one I will delete at some point.

Elephants! That is Steve, Stefan, and Brian. Yes, Placebo elephants. Nick's had Stef and Steve for a long time. Brian is mine--he was the first thing that Nick gave to me. Brian came via ship, and took what, two months or so to get to me? Now, just a few short years later, mail is much faster. We had a special fondness for Placebo back then--wrote fics together. MmmMmmm. I sleep with Brian every night. He goes everywhere with me, has been to Berlin twice, Hamburg, Nick's, London, ARIZONA WITHOUT ME, Cardiff, Washington DC and Seattle.

Another Stick user pic. I think this one is pretty self-explanatory, why I like it, why it is special. I love Stick! My previous journal, twisting_path (which Nick and I shared--lol) was when we discovered Stick. I think I found one or two I liked, and Nick found a whole bunch more and made me some. Being in a long-distance relationship has its pros and cons. Nick and I have been together roughly 4.5 years, known each other almost 5. That will be December 9th, actually. We started out as flirty friends, helped each other through alot of stuff, somehow figured out that hey, despite all the cons (distance and our own responsibilities) the pros to doing this were so much bigger. We needed each other, bad--still do, but for not quite as intense, dramatic reasons as at first.

I could write a whole post on this, but doubt it would be interesting to anyone else. Still, have to say that yup, I totally believe long-distance relationships work. Not easy, but what successful relationship is, without working at it?

My puppies! Maddox and Shelby, Nick and I went to the dog park. It was very hot that day and afterward, we decided to treat the pups to some ice cream at Sonic. They loved it, of course got lots of attention. Unfortunately, Maddox's tummy didn't like the ice cream so much and that was the last he ever had. Poor puppy.

Holler if you haven't done this, and would like to, and I'll choose six of your user pics.

And now, I really must get to that vacuuming I told Mander I was going to do, oh, about two hours ago.
