I don't have the energy nor desire (I think I am getting a cold--am all stuffy) so I will just say, before I go to bed to read and fall asleep well before midnight, lol, that I am both glad, and sad, to say goodbye to 2008.
It was an amazing year...Nick was with me for a great deal of it, and together we traveled to California, to Florida, to San Antonio and Austin...meeting so many amazing, wonderful people, most especially that
katilara person. We only had the one day together, and yet ever since, she's been influencing my life on so many levels it makes my head spin! And 2009 promises to be more of the same...only better! Too cool, and wonderful, I have to say.
May 2009 be everything you hope it will be, KL--you deserve everything good and wonderful. It's gonna be fun to watch.
Also wonderful to meet and play with was
pir8fancier, and the wonderful and adorable CHRISTIIIINNNEEE,
immora. Chelsea and Shannon, too...fun times were had, lots of good, and interesting (lol) memories. Oh yeah.
It was also a tough year, in many ways. Having to let Nick go back to Germany not once, but twice--especially the second time--was heartbreaking. But, our lives roll on and it is all part of the path we're on. Smile. That's about as philosophical as I can get.
It was an expensive year--my car wrecked twice, Tiff in two fender-benders, my a/c went out, gas prices nearly drove me nuts, my son had to have surgery, my kids' teeth tried to fall out (over 2k in dental bills, oy!) and though I stayed healthy, I did not IMPROVE my health. That is disappointing.
Oh, and of course, we got robbed. Dammit. Growl.
Happily though, my husky pups managed to be found after every escape, whew...I think their escape days are over. I hope so anyway.
Bad--my sister was, apparently, mugged and badly injured, could've been killed, over 2 bottles of expensive wine. At least, they now realize the wine she had, that had been gifted to her, was gone. She doesn't remember. Also bad--her daughter went through some private hell of her own, only 12, but is thankfully doing better. Especially, actually, since her mother got hurt.
Writing. Well...pretty much I deleted every thing I wrote. I figure that had to have been at least 25,000 or so words. Most of it was attempts at fanfiction. It is just not for me, despite valiant attempts (for all the wrong reasons). Still, that was alot of heartache, deleting all that. It hurt, alot. Only thing not deleted, was written the last few weeks, on Wolfhunter.
Otherwise...2008 was a complete, utter, undeniable writing failure. I nearly quit. Very, very, nearly quit. The sudden emergence of
getyourwordsout into my life (blame assigned to KL--see? More influence...though her writing partner can also be blamed (aka The Evil Mod). I lost track. GYWO is what has saved me, saved my writing. I am serious about that.
I am so ready for 2009--seeing Nick again, IMPROVING MY HEALTH, going to Wales(!!!!), learning (some) Welsh (apparently), playing with my dogs, learning new things at work (the world of GIS is booming and apparently, I will be booming with it). And writing. GYWO is going to be the main focus--300k committed, and I may just need committing by the end of it. Grin.
Oh and one more thing...one of the best things about 2008? Voting the Repugs out of office at last. Smile.
