First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY LINDA!!!!! May all the fireworks boom in your honor!!! That would be [livejournal.com profile] klgrem, who I totally blame for getting me on Livejournal years(!!) ago, and being a wonder-beta throughout my writing of Red. Thank you thank you Linda and have a wonderful day!!!!

In other news--IT IS SO GOOD TO BE OFF WORK TODAY!!! :) :) :)

After a few days of being horribly nervous and worried about my two Springers accepting Maddox I am so very happy to report that Claire and Maddox are playing at my feet. They are play biting and growling and the puppy is just in heaven. Claire's my Alpha girl, and her acceptance of Maddox has made me so happy! It freaked us out at first because we were seeing a side of her we'd never witnessed before. But after talking to the breeder, the folks on [livejournal.com profile] huskylove, and the vet on Monday, we've relaxed considerably and are stepping back to let Claire take on the role she's assigned herself as Minder of the Pup.

Here's a couple pictures of them playing!

The vet also confirmed that as he grows, he will get rougher and Claire will get tougher and we MUST let her do what she wants. Right now, the way they are playing, I could cry with happiness. They are wrestling and tussling and having the best time. Oops he bounced right into the cabinet though--ouch!

The one I worry about now is Scotty, my old Springer. The pup is already pushing him down the line. He takes Scotty's tennis balls, and kinda scares Scotty. We'll be watching him. The vet knows my dogs very well, having cared for Scotty especially with all his teeth problems, and believes that in time, Scotty will indeed be third dog. He is such a sweet old guy but I know he can get jealous so boy am I lavishing attention on him.

Having three dogs--especially a new puppy--has been so much fun so far! I feel very good about bringing Maddox on board, now that Claire has adopted him. Yay!

My crazy Mother in Law is picking us up at 10:30 and taking me and Kelly to Petsmart to buy a dog bed for Maddox. LOL. She is dog crazy herself and no telling what we will come home with.

One great thing about this puppy is that the house is SO CLEAN! Have to do my room still but will do so today. He slept ALL night long in his crate without a single whimper, so I am hugely relieved.

Okay that is it for this post! Gotta go get in the shower and get this wonderful day off started.

C

Haha. Thanks, C. :) I am taking it kind of easy today because I woke up feeling like I have the flu. :O

I am very glad to hear that Maddox is fitting into your family so well. :)

Have fun at Petsmart and enjoy your day off! ♥

That's so cool that Claire has adopted Maddox! I'm thinking puppy-rearing must be more fun (and possibly less wound-inflicting, since they can bite their dog friends instead of us) when there are other dogs around to share the burden! Here's hoping their relationship stays wonderful. Maddox is just adorable, and wow, how precocious of him to sleep all night in his crate without crying! I think you guys chose a real winner.

Oh definitely. Claire is quite happy to be a chew toy now, but I keep having to remove things from those teeth of his. He decided to try and eat my Amber book just now. Drive one nuts!

He also runs OUTSIDE (we yell) with the big dogs, so I hope that will sink in with him quickly that he is to wait to go piddle until he goes outside. We take him out all the time but just a second ago, I swear I looked over and zing! on the carpet. Such a tiny bladder NOW...but that won't last. Egads. LOL.

There are toys everywhere, too...but he'd rather chew on a sock! He's finding them everywhere! LOL. Boy is my house getting cleaned thanks to this guy.

Nooo... you aren't supposed to be sick on your birthday! That is not cool!!!!

So far so good on the puppy. He is a sweetheart and smart and with Claire helping (LOL) it is going very well indeed. Hopefully we'll get him housebroken quickly. That's the number one goal right now!

Eww. Yeah. I would guess so. :) Hopefully Claire can help with that, too.

I was quite disappointed to wake up not feeling well. Ken said he feels fine and we ate pretty much the same yesterday, so I'm not sure what's up.

I haven't thought about pack dynamics in a long time, so this is fun to read and see where the pros think your little group is headed -- and that you seem to be on the same page with them.

Hope you had a great Fourth of July!
