I've had this journal layout for quite awhile. Nick made it for me. I love it, love seeing his handwriting in the picture. But, the layout has alot of limits...and isn't working for me the way I want it to work. I want links, I want tags. I want...it to work on this layout. Sigh.

But, it looks like it is time for a change. I know, you're thinking 'it's just a layout, C!' But I am a weirdly sentimental person when it comes to our history together. This is part of that history. It is special!

What to do.

Sigh.

Geez, with all the layouts LJ seems to have, one would think there has to be a way to do and keep the picture. Send out an LJ 911 call. Might be somebody who knows how to do it.

I agree, there's got to be a way to mess with the code and get what you want done. Someone out there has to have a clue.

And being weirdly sentimental is one of the things I love about you.

You absolutely can have links and tags on this journal layout! Here's how:

Go here (http://www.livejournal.com/customize/options.bml?group=sidebars). See where it has the sidebar ordering stuff? Change them around so you have "tags" and "links" somewhere. And then this (http://www.livejournal.com/customize/options.bml?group=linkslist) is where you add links to the link part.

Maybe you could turn the header image into an icon, too?

Layouts are immensely customisable - you can make notes of all the bits about this one that you like, and incorporate them into your new layout. Paid account users can cusomise their CSS - so I'd say go for it.

Then again, I'm more or less using the layout and colour scheme I started out with, because i liked it, it's a familiar sight, and I don't want it to change at all.
