Today is super quiet at work. So, I can enjoy a distracty-day. I've seen this meme before (okay like 3 minutes ago in Nick's lj), but I usually skip memes of this type as I prefer to keep an illusion of awesomeness, but...kinda in that kind of mood to expose myself a bit more. Think it is because I am happy and in a great mood.  You ask, "Why is that, C?" Because it is....

22 days 'til boarding!

The problem with Livejournal is that we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. Hence, I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Then post this in your LJ (if you want to) and find out what people don’t know about you.

Easy enough...

Why don't I have your autographed cover yet?

22 days 'til boarding!

You do realize how much fun I could have teasing you about the above statement, don't you?

What writing of yours (post, fic, whatever) should I absolutely make a point of reading to know and love you well?

Well...my fics are limited honestly--just what I have on [livejournal.com profile] into_officeboys, I've tucked my epic fic-that-kept-me-sane-in-tough-times off here, because I rewrote it and sold it to Loose-Id Publishing (still makes me a nice little sum every month).

I'm extremely fond of my George/Andy fic though that is in my other lj as I relate to George a great deal. He's a friendly, likeable guy who comes across as open and what-you-see-is-what-you get (as I do), but who has a deeper, hidden side he dare not reveal except to those with whom he has gained a healthy measure of trust (same with me, though now it is more an active choice that I keep that aspect of myself hidden). And, it tears him up, living like this--the cards dealt him a nasty hand. That was me for a long time, still is to a certain measure, though having Nick has changed me a great, great deal.

I'll be writing more George (with and without Andy, but all connected), and through him, hope to find a vehicle for expressions of my own thoughts, feelings, etc. So, stay tuned?

what is your favorite book of all time?
not what you think is the best, most well-written, or is smart and everyone should read it
but your guilty pleasure, that book you've read 30 times and will continue to do so for as long as your eyeballs and brain can take it

Hmm...why did you choose the names you did for your kids?

What is your favorite song to belt in the car? In the shower?

What is the one driving pet peeve that really gets your goat?

Do you have any tattoos? If so, what are they and why did you choose them? If not, do you want any and why?

Do you believe in God?

Well, when I was a kid, it was Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. I loved that book so much! And...Watership Down too. But I outgrew the love for animals as main characters, I suppose. Other books that pop into my head from back then were all the Walter Farley horse books, ANY horsey book King of the Wind, Misty of Chincoteague, etc.

So many other books...I really will have to think on this more, as there are so many I love! Recent books, Dancer is amazing, just amazing...I should look on my shelf! I have only read a handful of books more than once, though have to admit I can listen to the GRRM books over and over again. :)

Oh easy ones:

The daughter is Tiffany Lauren Rogers. Her dad latched on to Tiffany and would not let go. I did not like it AT ALL and insisted she have a normal middle name that she could use professionally if she wanted. She likes Tiffany though--mostly perhaps because of the Tiffany jewelry. LOL.

Son is Robert Kelly, after my dad (Robert) and Kelly was actually his dad's nickname. Real name--Huey Dyson. Went by Kelly, which was his grandfather's middle name, and then of course he (the spouse) has a little brother who is James Kelly... OY! I called Kelly's dad Kel. LOL! Confusing?

Favorite song to belt in the car is easy--Darren Hayes' Casey. Why? Because Nick and I belted that out together many an hour on our road trips and just driving to and from his internship he did here last year during 4.5 months of heaven. (I ache every time it comes on, but I belt it out anyway).

Just some of the lyrics:

Driving in your car
With the windows down
And the beat up stereo
Struggle with this town
Cuz you love to hate it
And hate it to let it go

And we're all alone
And so tired of being
Underrated
So don't take me home
Cuz I feel alive
When you come and save me

A yellow car
Speeding down the Southside freeway
We'll rewrite this movie
Make it end like we want it to

And Casey
When you go
Can you come and find me
Wanna be beside you
When you leave this town
I've been waving goodbye
Pretending not to cry
I want to be someone
If you take me away
All the pain will change
Into a memory...
Of when we were amazing

Driving pet peeve? RUDENESS! I get so ANGRY at rude drivers! ARGH!!

Tattoos? No. I am not into them, though I can admire them. Just not interested in decorating myself. My daughter has 2--one I hate, the other I find very touching. She has the word 'remember' written in blue on her left wrist, underside, in remembrance of her father. Kelly plans to get it in black in another year.

Do I believe in God?

I was not brought up in a religious household. I never thought one way or the other about religion which could never be proved satisfactorily to me that it was the truth. I find the study of religions interesting...but religion has never been applicable to my personal life.

I live in city which is heavily populated by hard-core Southern Baptists and quite honestly? What I've experienced here has over the years left me with a heavy distaste for religious individuals, especially born-again Christians around here who are quite often the most prejudiced, judging people I've ever encountered. Truly unbelievable.

My sister is openly atheist--I prefer to just be myself, be a good person, treat others fairly and with respect (except perhaps when I am pissed off--lol, Poor Nick, he's had to bring me down a notch or two more than once but that usually happens when I am faced with unbelievable idiocy and I can't take it anymore. I am an Exploder.).

I don't usually say "I don't believe in God," as my thoughts are my own, but I now don't hesitate to say "I'm NOT a Christian" anymore either, as here, people assume you are whether you give them reason to or not.

Wow, that song seems very fitting!

And ha, I am a born-again Christian! :) But I do totally get what you mean about some Born Again's -- I scratch my head and say, "Wait, that's not my religion..." (I would say "born again" as a verb instead of a title. As in "I was born again when I met Jesus" as opposed to "I subscribe to all these beliefs that are typically held by people purporting to be Born Again" -- although you've probably figured that out already since I am pro gay marriage and equal rights, plus more superficially I swear and write comment porn and drink from time to time, amongst other things.)

Kelly is a Texas name for me! Cool. And lol at the many variations it has taken in your family. I also really like the name Lauren.

So far, I adore the myriads of tiny, wonderful shops. Little craft stores, handmade pottery shops, art stores, jewelry stores, antiques, cute tiny restaurants and cafes, used bookstores, shoe stores, bag stores, import stores... I spent the whole day yesterday just browsing shops. Later I found out that I was only in one small section, and most of the city is also full of little wondrous shops.

Today I'm going to the castle, which is amusingly right downtown.

Also, eat Welsh Cakes. They're small and delicious!
