Okay so I found a few more pictures of our trip through the Brecon Beacons. I knew that I had taken a picture of the sign that pointed to the lovely waterfall we stopped to see, and I was right. Argh! My apologies, but here's more!

I remember clearly this area of the Brecons--very twisty-turny (such a workout, driving in Wales). We ran across a parking lot with lots of cars and decided to stop and explore. All those cars must mean something cool was up ahead, right? You betcha!

And another sign! WATERFALL! WE MUST SEE IT!!

.

First a recap of that particular waterfall picture from the previous post:

Lovely waterfall. There's a few more of those! It was fun to get to--we parked the car, walked along a path (so chilly and damp) and went over one of those fence step-over things I once knew the name of. You know, bench through a fence so you can step over without snagging your drawers.

So lovely, the perfect place for a murder I thought... LOL. Even the trees are mysterious. (A little out of focus, but I do love the trees).

Anyway, down the tree-rooty path and there it was, a roaring stream and waterfall.

I absolutely LOVE this one:

I am not sure why I kept thinking murder scene! Secluded, dark, cool, far from civilization etc. Perfect. Oh check this out! Our map! This is what Nick drew on to keep track of all the places we'd been, and where we were to go. The map usually worked, too! Usually.

After we left there, it was getting late so we headed for home. We ran across this little lake reservoir and decided to stop. (I actually used this reservoir as the location for the final scene of my [livejournal.com profile] reel_torchwood. We parked the car near this sign, which we kind of ignored:

The reservoir itself was pretty. Easy to imagine hundreds of evil seagulls swooping in. There were plenty there anyway.

Onward then! I took a few more pictures along the way, like this one--that is water pouring down that hill. Really lovely. So glad I found these!

And a few last pics.

That's so beautiful. You should use the pictures when you write your murder mystery using the location. No, really. I expect you to write the murder mystery and use those pictures on the cover and throughout the book.

Would I lie about wanting you to write?

LOL, to write a mystery set in Wales would be tough--I am getting more confident in the Brit-pickiness, but honestly to write a full-blown mystery set there would be so hard to get completely right. I agree though--pictures are inspiring!

Having a car is a must in Wales I think. The only way to really see the cool stuff! Hope you are feeling better by now.

I heard you have to be at least 27 to rent a car in the UK. :( Not that it would help me much, since I left my driver's license home. I had a feeling I'd be far too inclined to use it, more money to spend.

I am, thank you! :) After a very nasty morning, I finally started to feel better. My throat is getting really soar, but that's the least of my problems. I'll be happy enough if I stop fainting.

Don't have to be 27 - my brother hired a car when we were there, and he's 25. You DO have to not be spooked about driving on the wrong side, though!

Wales is lovely.

I'm 23, so 25 is still not good. xD And the part about not being spooked: definitely wouldn't work for me. I almost got hit by cars and buses several times while trying to cross the street. Traffic scared the crap outta me in the UK. But ok, I was in London. Maybe Cardiff is not so bad.

Yeah, there is a reasn they have "LOOK RIGHT!" written on the streets everywhere! :)

Believe me, driving without Nick would've been very very difficult. He did all the navigating, the TURN HERE! stuff. I so could not have done it alone!!!

But that only made me more confused! I kept looking both ways, 'cause my instinct was always to look to the opposite side first. Crossing streets made me very nervous. xD

I think it's 23 with extra insurance package, but could be that it's actually 25 ... But I think you're too young either way, aren't you?

Oh. Well, somebody who tried to rent a car somewhere in the UK told me that. But I think she was trying to get to Ireland, maybe you have to be 27 to drive through Irish borders or something. (?)

But yeah, I'm 23.
