Okay, I think I may have figured out something that works. Inspired by [livejournal.com profile] amand_r and her use of schedules to keep herself on track with everything, I am trying out my own schedule. This was night two and it went well.

From now until the end of November, from 7:30 to 8:30 on weeknights, I write for one hour. Goal is to achieve 1k. Actually this works better:

Weekday schedule:

1:30-2:30 a.m. - talk with Nick. (Not the whole hour, just usually in that time frame)
6:30 a.m. - let dogs out to zoom and do their thing in the backyard, get ready for work
7:30 a.m. - toss dogs in the big crate (their pen) and leave for work
8:ish to 5:00 - work
6:00 - 7:30 - feed dogs, relax, chores, read emails, twitter, dinner
7:30 - 8:30 - write
8:30 - 9:30 - free time, including throwing the ball for Maddox
9:30 - 10:30-11:00 - read a real book
11:00 at the latest - bedtime

Weekend schedule:

6:30-8:00 a.m. - let the dogs out to zoom! make coffee! talk with Nick! emails, twitter, etc.
8:00-10:00 a.m. - house chores, shower
10:00-12:00 a.m. - write, goal of 2000 words
12:00-7:00 - relax! play with Nick! nap! Play with the puppies! errands! and later, Merlin!
7:00 (or really, whenever Nick goes to bed) - to 8:30 - write! 1500 words!
Evening...doing whatever! Cross-stitch, reading, whatever...

Now if I stick with that, I will get my 50k words by the end of November. I really really really want to achieve that this year. I really really do!

OH! COOL: I just got off this site for fairytales. I'm usually not one to seek inspiration from fairytales (though I've enjoyed others' stories inspired by them) but this site was fascinating! So, I am sharing the url for the forum:

Pretty nifty stuff on there.

I would need more NAPTIME but otherwise it looks great! Best of luck.

Nap? I don't get naps! I tried to take one last weekend but failed. What is it like to take a nap?

That's a scary schedule.

I wouldn't run on that little sleep - not with aikido, which demands a rested body, alas. That's the major drawback of doing sports: they don't work well if you're too tired.

On the other hand, I admire your schedule. I've been a schedule person for most of my life, but lost it due to my increasingly irregular life. At the moment, I long for a schedule and at the same time absolutely hate it. So I use one when I feel that it's doing me good and get rid of it when it's too much of a corset. But I always keep to-do lists for every day, week and month to keep track of my projects and goals.

LOL I always run on that little sleep. I sleep like a rock! I can fall asleep after Nick and I hang up, almost immediately. I get about 7 hours a sleep? And I generally, almost always just wake up between 6 and 7, but sometimes I will just stay passed out. Usually Nick wakes me though.

My life is so scheduled! It is true, and work of course is the core. Ugh. I wish it wasn't, but at least there are the weekends.

I'm definitely looking forward to Merlin this year. I've heard hints of good things!
Good luck with your schedule!

OH YAY! MERLIN FAN TOO... We're caught up to the current. It has its problems and craziness but it is fun regardless. I watch it for the joy of it, and for that silliness and the chemistry between the two main actors. They haz it.

Yeah they do. I hope Sci Fi continues to pick them up. Don't know what I'd do if I couldn't watch Season 3. Heard they've been guaranteed a Season 4, too. :)

I'd love to make a schedule to fit in writing, but I'm just going to try and write as a go. If I get there, AWESOME if not, then, well, I tried. The goal for me is to just get writing!!!! And I have a good topic :)

That is definitely a good goal. Writing every day. I write in 45 minutes and I am looking forward to it--a good sign!!

This is SOOO off topic, kinda, maybe not...anyway. With the 1,667 words a day to achieve 50k words, I cheated this moring (10/31!) and started writing out an intro to my story just to try and get the muses going, it was only 40 words!! Anyway, the 40 words were really only 39 words... my Microsoft Word counted that dash [ - ] as a word. Is that right?!

Hey it is already past midnight in Australia. Go with it! :) I think it counts characters too? I guess? :) Anyway, go you!

Frankly? I am finishing up my current wip first which is a long-time-coming sequel to Red. Finally. LOL. I've been working on it for weeks. They can bite me.
