Such a nice weekend here in North Texas--beautiful and sunny though the temps were colder, which I appreciated actually. I am not ready for winter to end here, thanks. Plus I got to spend lots of time with Nick. :) I always love that!
Okay so what did I accomplish this last week. Let me think...
Writing
Really went well this last week. I spent way too much time on my worldbuilding of my fantasy, but that's okay--got a great map out of all that effort, lol. Pretty, isn't it?

I know, I know, WAY too much time on that. But I MISS maps! I can't help myself. But, I have all kinds of things figured out and tucked into a spot I can quick-reference (the amazing and wonderful OneNote) and am now moving forward, mostly because my newest person to join in my lj told me I had to. Okay, she's right, and right about too many kings...what was I thinking? That's been fixed. I swear. Now on to the antagonist! Woo!
Other fic-wise, i.e. Splash Page is moving on wonderfully! I participated in a whole bunch of timed writings (WORD WARS!) with folks from
paperpushers and boy do I love those things. When I was a member of
getyourwordsout (gosh, is that the right name even? there, that fixed it I think) I discovered just how competitive I can be when it comes to accumulation of words within a set time period. GYWO turned me into a monster. For these, we did 30 minute sessions, and silly me, over six of these things, ended up with 8,340 new words. WOOT! I've got a good start on it, and am incredibly bouncy about that. I'm going to stick to weekends to work on this story, and during the week for the fantasy--think that is really going to work out well. I need to calm down though--my right arm is TIRED! Maybe do one, sit out on one, do another. LOL. It was nice too meeting some other people I hadn't before. That is the side-benefit to these things!
Just really very pleased with the writing these days.
Diet Fun
A week or so ago I decided that I felt really blah and tired and blah, and I needed to get cracking and get off 15 lbs. I've got a good start, having at least got myself back on track with good eating. That was harder than I thought! And I might've had a few cracker-attacks along the way this week, but the weight is starting to shift, am feeling lighter, stomach tighter, and most importantly--knee is getting better. Will get back to YMCA this week! I swear!
Job Fun
I admit I did not look very hard last week. I KNOW I am baaaad and really starting to enjoy myself way too much. *bites nails* So this week, I have to get serious again. Unemployment benefits won't last forever and the last thing I want is to run through every bit available to me. Sigh. But dang it, it would be so awesome to just write full time... But of course, I have no insurance, no dental, hello thank you USA for taking care of me and mine. Not. So the risk is a great one that one of us could get sick or hurt and then where would I be? Yeah. Exactly.
Guess that is it for the moment. The daughter leaves on Friday for a week in Minnesota, Nick leaves on Friday for a weekend in London, so it will be a quiet weekend. Maybe I will treat myself to something awesome after Warrior Writers on Saturday. NOT food-related, but go to a museum or something. Or the zoo! Okay museum would be better, definitely. Nick is seeing all these plays and I am started to feel a distinct lack of culture running through my veins, so yeah. I should poke around these here parts and see what there is to offer that I could take advantage during the weekdays while I am off.
Crash time now (sleep kind of crash) as I hope to stay on track with the early to bed, early to rise, be all productive and all that crap, and get to Barnes and Noble before all the good plugs are taken. Stupid B&N near me is seriously lacking in plugs, and comfy wooden chairs. But I should be able to get both, and be productive in the morning instead of lazing around until Tiff leaves for TCU.
Nite all!

Date: 2011-03-07 03:29 pm (UTC)Your Friendly Neighbourhood Surveyor-Woman wishes to point out to you that such a geologic structure (ocean, immediate mountains) is common in areas where two plate boundaries meet and thus the following are likely to be true:
1. There is a rainshadow desert or semi-desert to landward of the large mountain chain, although lake effect precipitation may occur (especially in winter)...think Chile or Turkey or Tibet. Rivers and river flats would be fed primarily by runoff or snowmelt from the mountains.
2. Such a region will be hugely susceptible to earthquakes.

Date: 2011-03-07 03:42 pm (UTC)YAY for WW working! I actually started gaining weight when I joined my daughter in her vegetarian world. It just does not work for me. I am, alas, a carnivore at heart, and when I went back to that and cut out all the bad carbs I started to lose weight again, and absolutely feel better. So that is that for me. I still make vegetarian dishes, like tonight we will have tofu stir fry which I love, but yeah, gotta do what works for you. ;)
Going anywhere cool for vacation this time?
