I was quite thrilled to be asked to participate in this blog's Abuse Awareness Month. I like this blogsite as their articles are always thought-provoking, and this particular month's theme is very personal as it is in tribute to a friend of the site's who committed suicide. So damn sad. :(

Anyway - here's my wee post: Speak Out

And now? BREAKFAST!!!!

Oh you did a lovely job. That's a good message for people to always remember. You can make a difference and sometimes even with the smallest of gestures change someone's life.

It really hit home to me, the impact ARTS had on people - I want to do that again with the new one, which has bullying as a theme. My previous book touched no one, and I think now on reflection that is what was missing for me while writing it, and for readers. So! It is just coincidence that this new one has an issue at the basis of it, but I am excited about it. WOO!!!!

About time I got excited about writing again....

That was a lovely post, very touching and true. Thanks for writing it. I hope that people take the time to truly think about it. I think back on experiences in my past and wonder 'Why didn't anyone say anything. Just anything? Everyone knew. Why stay silent?' Hopefully people will become aware that, like you said, these cycles can be broken.

I love what you wrote. The part that really got to me was when you wrote, "Like my friend, Nick grew up in a difficult home situation, and mistook his first partner's negative attention for love. When that 'love' turned into abuse, his dependence on his partner was difficult to break away from." This is what I went through with Todd. It's ironic how Todd was the one who broke things off in the end because a psychic told him I was the abusive one and our marriage would end. He filed for divorce as a result of what was said during that reading, and he still brings it up all the time how I was the abusive one because the psychic said so, even though four medical professionals and CPS all sat him down and told him he was abusive.

Sigh.

So you and Todd did split - geesh am I behind on LJ or what? I hope you and the kids are hanging in there. :( Hmm. A psychic. Interesting. Hmmmm. He believed the psychic because he couldn't handle hearing the truth. That is sad, but you are doing well? I hope so!

Yes, I am doing well. I moved out May 1 and our divorce was finalized June 15. I went back to my maiden name right away. I think he was hurt by that, but it shouldn't have been unexpected. Why would I keep his last name afterward? I'm not in the situation my cousin was in where everyone knew her name and it would be detrimental to her career if she changed it.
