So, I am very much not alone in my anger over the way LJ Scrapbook has scrapped all its usefulness. This really is the last straw, LJ. I'm a picture person, this is why I have almost a thousand pics in my lj, THIS one, no telling on my old twisting_path which is jammed full of pictures too.

Guess when I am bored or watching iplayer or hulu or something I can just start moving them off here.

I am sad. I feel really, really sad that the one way I enjoyed using LJ is now gone.

What is the point of LJ, anymore???

What new sh*t happened with S/Crapbook?

I'm clearly not a picture person, or I would know ...

They migrated to a new scrapbook thing, you know, always 'improving' that which is fine, and though I can upload and see my pictures, they won't load into posts. WTH!!!

ARGH!!!!

Gah - that sucks!

I guess I'll find out all about it in practice after my next holiday with my dad in two weeks.

That's a big reason why my art journal is no longer on LJ.

It is ridiculous, and I don't blame you at all. Heck there are people who have LOST their pictures, so I am glad your work is safe and far, far away from the nonsense.

so far so good with mine (although getting used to that "put into a post" button took a while )but then I don't have a ton of pictures...

and I've heard enough people complain to be giving that scrapbook thing the hairy eyeball. *glares*

ugh.

Do!

I thought okay maybe if I give it a few minutes - I left it after I clicked it, and it had clicked back to my post - WITH NO PICTURE.

AM ANGRY.

I miss the old interaction of LJ.

Internet places are always doing stupid changes they think are for the better.

Me too.

Twitter is what has taken over in my head for LJ. I love it but I miss the long, wind-y postings. I'm pulling together a new writerly blog, my own site, but who knows if anyone will see it? I will cross-post here but guess we'll see.

I miss being in a fandom, honestly. Torchwood fandom was so wonderful!

I still think the point of LJ (and DW [*]) is to connect with people. I'm sorry the Scrapbook is messed up for you (get a Flickr account for your photos. You won't regret it.)

[*] I keep - and post to - both, because I'm not willing to dump a large number of friends who *aren't* on DW, but while LJ again and again makes bad decisions and sticks their fingers in their ears when users complain, DW continues to be awesome and introduces new features that make me squee.

You're one of the reasons I keep lj... but yes, the scrapbook crap is CRAP.

I'm so sorry that LJ has let you down in this. I'm terrified all the people I enjoy most will leave LJ and I'll be all alone.

Back when I first got envious of everyone else embedding photos in LJ, I tried to figure out scrapbook, which was very new. I managed to upload a photo or two, but simply could not figure out how to embed them in an LJ post, so I whined about it until some kind LJ friend hooked me up with photobucket and talked me through uploading and copying the embed code.

I've been so happy with how that works that I never bothered to figure out LJ scrapbook - never hosted photos there, so it's no loss to me. Now, if photobucket started doing whatever LJ scrapbook has done to you, I'd be in the same boat - so you have my deepest sympathy.

I'm not sure what they're trying to get it to do - hopefully when they get the bugs worked out, it will regain some or all of the functionality that you need, even if it's a new format. *fingers crossed*

I'm a bit obsessive about making sure I have local copies of all my photos. And a double backup just in case.

Like [livejournal.com profile] kattale, I first tried Scrapbook years ago and found it very cumbersome. Once I opened a Flickr account, I more or less abandoned it because copying and pasting the Flickr embed code was so much easier.

My main storage for photos is my computer, backed up to an external hard drive. Only the best make it to Flickr and I only use Scrapbook occasionally for photos I want to use to illustrate an LJ post but which are not good enough photos in themselves to be put on Flickr.

No, the new scrapbook is absolute shit. They lost nearly all of my pics the 1st time they tried to migrate them and it took a month of me nagging to get any answers.

Definitely go to flickr! The old Scrapbook drove me crazy - it was the very opposite of user-friendly and required too many clicks to get anywhere. I pretty much only used it because I'd paid for it. But flickr is made of awesome and is ridiculously easy to use.

I hope you manage to save all of your old photos and images. :)
