Am now the happy and proud owner of a new HP Envydv4, a lovely white computer with black around the monitor, 14", Windows 8 which is fine with me - I've had no problems taming it, getting off the bloatware, etc. It has a bit of quiet hum from the fan, but I am fine with that - my old laptop was incredibly noisy and so HOT - this has Coolsense which is keeping the keys so nice and cool! No more hot hands! YAY!
Christmas this year has been fabulous. My daughter is home for the holidays and my sister and her daughter are here - they return home tomorrow. The kids and I had a nice Christmas morning just the three of us then though I ended up driving through our snow/ice stormette to fetch my sister and her daughter from Love Field, it was a great day even if it was a treacherous drive to my other sister's.
Both my kids loved what I got them (Kindle and a killer professional-model blow dryer for the daughter, and a USB microphone and straight-razor and full kit for the son). They got me Bose head phones that I can't wait to try out on this computer as soon as I get music on it.
Am still working on edits, meep. And here I told my editor oh I will have them in early! So much for that. Family stuff, work, more family stuff - been incredibly busy. It's been fun but I am kinda ready to get back into the routine of things.
Am working on my writing goals for 2013. More on those later.
And, I am so happy that a friend told me today that she'll be coming to visit the area in March! WHEE! Must clean all the things...
Sitting here on my bed with my new laptop and its pretty pretty clean and crispy white monitor, and looking up over at my big monitor I realize how yellow it is (the big monitor) in comparison.
I love this little laptop. Perfect choice and hopefully we'll be friends for a long time to come.

Date: 2012-12-31 04:38 am (UTC)I think the tiles for the start menu are pretty silly - trying to get the Apps thing on a computer - but, why not? I just use the desktop as always and have it set up just like I like it. I wouldn't hesitate to get Windows 8.
You better be feeling better.... /eyes you/

Date: 2012-12-31 06:31 am (UTC)Don't know if you will see both this post an my last, but yes I am feeling better. Very tired and I am about to make a nice long post about it.
As for the windows 8 the tiles just look so confusing on the commercials. Funny story with the touch screen is that when I worked at UPS the computers at work were a touch screen and I got my first touch screen phone. I would come home and be working on my computer and find myself touching the screen to try to get things to open. Had a few duh moments. But I am like you, don't really need or want a touch screen computer at home.
