A friend pointed me to a review she found regarding my m/m fic, A Red-Tainted Silence. I get a review now and then, and get fan mail, begging for more fics in this genre.

This review though made me smile as the person pegged my inspiration:

I just finished A Red Tainted Silence by Carolyn Gray.

This is an incredible story. One of the best I have read. I put it up there with Chris Owen's Bareback and ML Rhodes' Never Let Go. It is long, complex and full of angst. Character development is excellent. The plot twists and turns more than a Six Flaggs roller coaster. It a sad story, but also a very beautiful story, and best of all, it has a HEA.

At the center of the story is a pop duo with surprising similarities to real life pop duo Savage Garden. I wouldn't have thought of this, if it wasn't for a comment made by a Joyfully Reviewed reviewer. She mentioned there were similarities to a real life duo, and that a little internet research had pointed her in the right direction. Though she never mentioned which duo, it wasn't hard to figure it out. A little bit of internet research of my own and it was clear that there are more than a couple of similarities between Nicholas Kilmain's story and the story of Darren Hayes and Savage Garden. I'll let you take it from there. Just know that if you need inspiration while reading the book, all you have to do to get in the right mood is play Savage Garden and imagine Nicholas Kilmain singing.

I did mention that this story is full of angst. I mean it. If angstsy stories are not your thing, skip this one. It is loaded with angst from beginning to end.

Tee hee! I actually was inspired, yes, by a video put together by someone named Aussie Ray. I was a new fan to Savage Garden so really didn't know much about them, but did pull out a few facts that I used, and then went from there. The rest came from my noggin. Every time I hear from someone about this book, I sigh. I loved it so damn much, really really did. And do. Happy memories.

Still waiting to hear about son's finger x-rays. ARGH!

Surgery Monday! Woot. Yow. Oh well. We adore Dr. Toledo, so am not worried. I have to get the x-rays in the morning so we'll get to check them out ourselves first. LOL.
