Seems that somehow the backlight on the monitor wiggled loose...and I ended up having to have it sent to HP for repairs. I sure am glad Nick's laptop is okay but I sure hate that this happened at all. Hopefully this will be the last and only problem I have. Weirdly, the store where we bought our computers is closing--a month and a week after opening. Brand new, but already Circuit City has decided that they are losing too much. Heck they built it out in the middle of nowhere and it isn't even listed on the website--I found it by accident! Nuts. But there you go--sign of the economic times.

Fortunately, I have my son's laptop--though it is a bit glitchy in that it does not hold onto the adaptor plug correctly (a problem with that model--a crack develops in the casing that holds the plug in, so it wiggles free which makes a weird sign come up about not being able to detect type of adaptor...). But I have it settled now to where it isn't wiggling free constantly. I'll get by a week or two. I have Word 2007 loaded up, and all my writing stuff transferred over...and I am tired of this day and want to just go to bed. Nevermind that it is only 7:30...it's been an emotional weekend, far harder than I thought to be parted, albeit temporarily, from Nick. Love hurts sometime, though I wouldn't give it up for anything.

It was a rough day though--everywhere I went today, I thought of when Nick and I were there. I kept seeing little reminders... Everywhere. Nick was asleep most of my afternoon, having arrived back in Germany after getting no sleep at all on the plane, so I was way too alone with my thoughts. I know we'll get back to it being easier than it is now, but the parting is just more keenly felt this time. Much more keenly felt.

So I am about to call it a day, curl up in bed with Nick's dog, and read something cheerful like The Longest Walk by Stephen King. I've got a thunderstorm going on itunes as I can't bear the silence.

C, curling up with a book and Nick's blankie (man, this thing is nice! I spoiled him!)

I don't find it too similar to The Lottery (the sadist in me just loved how that story turned out, lol). With the end, I'm wondering if Garraty lives happily ever after (probably not, it is King), goes insane, kills himself afterward, or all of the above. The Major is creepy...actually that whole premise is creepy.

I looooove musicians, I've been such a groupie since way before my SG days. I didn't think I would still want to chase bands at 40, but since I broke up with my last ex (yes, a musician, they all are), I'm lusting after them more than ever. Go dig back in my LJ to see where inspiration is coming from. :)
