Great writing tonight--an additional 1010 added to WH, and I didn't want to stop. Torment! I can't wait to get back to it tomorrow night... Whoa. I haven't felt like this in awhile. I hope I'm not dreaming...

Work is super-slow right now. This is not unexpected, as the railroad tends to slow down between holidays. Been true all of the 12 years I've been associated with BNSF, so no big deal.

Raises came and went last week, bonuses yesterday, reviews today and tomorrow...and life goes on. All is well with the business, which is good, except I am extraordinarily bored during this off-season.

So in order to entertain myself, as I can't talk to N all day, which I really and truly miss like crazy, and I can't write at work (boss tends to pop by too much), I research. Wikipedia, I love you...even if there are mistakes all over the place.

Today's research was of course for Wolfhunter. I have my work cut out for me not to make WH like all the other urban fantasy stories out there (i.e., there will not be any werewolves or vampires in the foreseeable future...though if I could figure out how to get that vampire kit into a modern setting, I might...and damn if an idea how just smacked me in the forehead, whoa--BOOK II??? HEH!)

Lost track there. Sorry. ANYWAY...a few things I ran across last night, and a lament posted on Amazon, and the realization that I didn't have a satisfactory mythos for WH led me down a happy little garden path that I am, for some reason, extremely reluctant to post about on an open blog. Heck I'm extremely reluctant to post ANYTHING remotely writerly about my personal writing on an open blog.

So, with that in mind, I'm finally breaking down and creating a writing-only custom group. Someplace where I can yack freely to myself about what I am doing. I'd considered doing this in the past but really, I hadn't the project worthy. Thought I did, and it still might be later (Stage) but that is a different sort of writing and, well, quite frankly? I don't wanna work so hard at writing right now. I want to have FUN, I want to write a story that *I* would love to read, create characters who are the kind of people I would surround myself with if I were my main character...yeah.

I need a place where I can put down thoughts, and even post excerpts now and then. My dear Epic Steampunkers have done this, and I really like what they've pulled together there. Nice nice and a great way to keep track of things--all specific to WolfHunter, which is my first fic for the [livejournal.com profile] getyourwordsout madness.

Anyone who would like to be on that closed list, holler. Otherwise, it'll just be me and my brain (which is fine, too).

I tend to post about writing under a friendslock - other people have special filters set up for that - because I'm not comfortable talking about WIPs in the open. I do have a writing journal - [livejournal.com profile] beyond_elechan where I post reviews and general thoughts about writing, but as it's the site I promote outside of LJ, I don't like putting stuff about WIPs there.

I always like reading about other people's processes.

Okay cool! Thank you! I am thinking a separate writing journal also. I already have one just sitting their all sad and bored, [livejournal.com profile] echnos, so may just use that. Or, maybe a comm, so lazy me doesn't have to sign out of this one all the time. LOL.

I use a desktop client for posting anyway - Phoenix for Mac, in my case - and that will allow me to save posts as well as logging out and posting to a different account without ever logging out of the browser. Well, other than commenting. (I have bad experience that means I try to keep my LJ out of the public eye - I don't post the name in public, I don't link to it, it's not accessible through google. People who want to find me do it anyway, but it helps.)

I use [livejournal.com profile] paintedknight to blog photos from flickr, and I've got a second browser on my computer that is logged in to that account. (Flickr wants your password, and while I trust Flickr, I'm a little bit paranoid about having my account details held in a database.)

And then, as it seems to be 'pimp my LJs day' (sorry) I have to mention the character about whom I used to say that I cannot give him a PoV or he'll take over.

He got his own livejournal - [livejournal.com profile] valendon - and I got a novel out of it. (I really should update the entries to reflect the editing I've done since.)

Yes!
Haha!

I hoped there'd be a sequel. :D

Don't let anyone know if you're not comfortable with it, but I'd love to be on the Wolfhunter group. :)

well, with it falling into Urban Fantasy, it is a given (in my head) that it will be a series. As much as i love these characters, I'm down with that.

Oh silly, you were a given for the list... LOL.

I have a writing blog for each of my WIPs that are almost entirely flocked so that only select people can see what I'm talking about. Might you consider that?

sorry I didn't reply to this earlier, but I actually rather like your idea. That would keep everything in one place all neatly and happily. Emdash and KL have their own comm--I might do that actually. Be easier to dump stuff in there (I am so lazy!)

Yes, please, put me on that list! I might not be able to comment on every post, but I will be happy to follow your project.

No worries--it is mostly I like an audience to talk to, at least in my head. LOL. I just didn't want to bore people without their consent.

Done! And hey if you are in the mood to commit to a year of crazy writing counts, since you did so well with nano, you might want to check out [livejournal.com profile] getyourwordsout.

Miss you, frankly. *squeeze* My negligence of Seaside Andy is turning legendary. Just too many other things going on, and am finally writing again.
