I have to work tomorrow. Which sucks, because the Railroad is closed, and today, I literally had NOTHING to do all day. I tried to sneak-work on my fic, but because everyone else was not doing anything, they were all milling around...and bothering me.
Sigh.
We have a popcorn machine at work--big thing, cost 5k I am told. So we had a popcorn party, invited the next door people over. During this, we learned that a company across the way--the entire company--got pink slips today. BAM. Doors closed, two days before Christmas. 64 people lost their jobs, just like that.
Damn.
My work drives me nuts (either I am swamped and can't breathe, or I am bored to tears) but it is a healthy company, with 2009 looking very good. It is a diversified company with projects in many different sectors which absolutely helps.
Started a Kim Harrison book today. Thought I had the first one. Uh, no. Fourth. Very obvious. GROWL. What is worse, is I WAS AT THE BOOKSTORE AND FORGOT TO LOOK FOR THE FIRST ONE! Pardon my shouting. For some reason, since meeting
the_wanlorn I seem to be shouting more. No telling what a whole year associating with those folks at
getyourwordsout will do to me. What is that, you say? GYWO as it is being (fondly, for now) called? GO SEE! The doors will close, permanently, on December 31. There are almost 100 of us now, dedicated to pursuing fiction with purpose
Finished Christmas shopping. No one gets much this year. Only my MIL, kids, and Lexie my niece. I spent roughly 400 dollars, still. Mostly gift certificates, odds and ends.
I can't get hold of my sister, and am extremely worried. I do not like how out of touch I am to Leslie. We will have to have a talk re: Robert's lack of keeping me informed. I know he is twisted into two between Leslie's accident(?) and his dad, but...I neeeed to know how my sister is doing. I do not like this, at all.
Nick is in Switzerland. We cannot talk via phone for 1.5 weeks...that majorly sucks. We're kinda used to the phone thing. We have googlechat at least...but lol we are out of practice doing that with each other. Too used to the phone thing.
My house is a wreck, I have to go to some Christmas thing tomorrow night, and have much to do for Christmas morning and no time to do it. Not impressed.
I am totally addicted to http://twitter.com/HotAmishChick. I have to blame
bodlon for that one. I'd love to find more like hers though--great pick-me-up's, laughter-inducers, destressers. One HAS to smile at such twitters as:
Couldn't sleep. Got a little spacey in the wee hours. Thank the Lord for bonnets. I do *not* want to explain these cornrows.
Lord, I don't how to get one or even what it is, but I know this: I would totally debase myself for a Snuggie. Love to Jesus. Amen.
Apron. Pony poop. An angry gander. Don't ask.
Time to go wash off paws, and watch more Criminal Minds. Tonight, tomorrow night, Thursday night--all total losses re: writing. Can't totally blame being busy either. Can blame something important is just slightly out of place, out of kilter, off to the side, on a different shelf...yeah. No worries though, will be set to rights soon.
C, not where she wants to be

Date: 2008-12-24 04:44 am (UTC)Oh jesus you are not the first to note this. LOL
Not that I don't love my darling BFF and all... but sometimes I think other authors who I chat with for business purposes wonder why I occasionally spazz out and start typing all in caps.
I try not to, but it's crazy insidious.

Date: 2008-12-24 05:22 pm (UTC)What part of Canada do you live, btw? Know anything about Whitehorse? It is tempting me to be my setting...but seems kinda cheeky to use a city I've never been to. The friend that lives there though--her pics are just overwhelmingly beautiful.

Date: 2008-12-24 05:20 pm (UTC)Still no word from her. What i think happened--since see, she has her one eye covered and the other was having vision problems (triple yikes) was that Robert had to go to his dad who is dying, and took Lexie, and Leslie was going to a friend's, and...can't see the emails, but dang it she has her phone turned off and that truly makes me upset.
I don't like it at all.
