Well. I am off to a fantastic start!
Thus far, I have done the following:
1. Cleaned out and got rid of my outside freezer and changed my electricity to www.greenmountain.com. Going green as I can...though I can't afford full wind-only power.
2. Reorganized my inside freezer and refrigerator.
3. Reorganized my cabinets. All of them. Threw crap away like crazy.
4. Cleaned the carpet.
5. Laundry.
6. Cleaned my room.
7. Vacuumed. Living room and bedroom.
8. Mopped the tiles.
9. Dusted.
10. Played with the puppies.
Started new hard-core super-duper diet...6 lbs. gone, first week. 30 to go--the rest of the evil 15 I gained back, plus more. Yes, it will slow down now...easy loss at first, due to general blobness post-Christmas. I feel so much better though. Eating pure as pure can be...something I've always wanted to do. Cut to the basics, get everything out of my system...it is going well so far, and why the crazy bursts of energy.
Also...day six of no sodas. It has been easy this time. Not sure why...maybe having hot tea to enjoy? Earl Grey is my best friend. I am drinking tons of water--got Potassium tonight as given the amount of water I am consuming, plus the bp meds I take which are a diuretic...it is probable that once again, I've depleted my potassium to danger levels. I've done this multiple times before, though I have never taken potassium regularly...just drank the loaded water. So am trying this.
So, you are thinking--but Carolyn, this all has NOTHING TO DO WITH WRITING!!!!!!
Actually, it really does. I did not want to start my writing plan on a Thursday--I do much better when I do the "A chapter a week" plan, Monday through Sunday. So, this week has been devoted to getting the house and self into proper shape.
I am a control freak at heart, and have been terribly out of control in too many areas of life.
Now my house is in control (okay as much as it can be).
My body is in control.
My drinking lol is in control.
Nick is back in Germany, and almost under control...and yes this is important! Grin.
So, starting tomorrow, Monday, I will begin. Not counting the 11k I already have of course. :)
No post is complete without a finishing touch...behold Shelby,
cruentum's dog, my little buddy. She is so awesome (thought rather grumbly today--she doesn't wish to be disturbed, thank you!)

And yeah, except my Christmas tree still being up, my daughter's clean clothes all over the couches, it all looks great. LOL.

Date: 2009-01-05 09:12 am (UTC)I find that hot water is my friend - too much black or green tea makes me jumpy. Hot water is soothing.
I can so relate to your need to clean up and get everything in order before you sit down to write. I need free space around me to think - can't stand the clutter, if I need to get into something new. That's why I took half of last week to do other stuff than write my book.
And while I'm typing away, I miss writing fiction. I'm a greedy thing, am I not? *g*

Date: 2009-01-05 03:21 pm (UTC)I tend to do that at work too--after a project is done, I have to clean off my desk to get mentally prepared for the next one.
I was going to stop at B&N tonight but we have freezing rain out there, so I'd rather just go home. I am going to try something new though--write at work before I go...no one pays attention to me here hardly, so I *can* write 30 or so minutes before leaving. 4:30-5:00.
Good golly miss molly...you are doing great. Nick tells me now that he has the thesis going, that he worries diving into fiction writing would disturb the flow. I can see that. Gotta keep that focus!!

Date: 2009-01-05 04:44 pm (UTC)I like your diet, it sounds reasonable and yummy.
Oh good - writing time when nobody is paying attention. 30 minutes isn't much, but it's enough time to organise something or start a scene you can finish later at home. And just imagine: you sitting at your work place, mumbling "I can't leave. I'm not done yet!" to yourself, being the shining example of the company. *giggles*
Thank you! :-) Focus is everything! At least that's how it is for me. Without focus, I tend to start too many different projects at once. I still have many projects open, but I know when to do which and why I have to focus - to really get them done.
The good thing is that once I have a goal, nothing ever stops me. I know that people often find that kind of determination a little scary, but I found it helpful. I don't want to boast, but being determined got me through a two thesis, both not at my home uni and with different professors. It got me through job challenges and right into founding my own business. It's something I can rely on.

Date: 2009-01-05 03:20 pm (UTC)Whatever it is, I never want it again.
And be gentle with the dog pix. They'll make me want to go home and play with mine, and that way lies madness after last week...
