Man is, and will always be, his own worst enemy. Our need to destroy is as tightly woven into our DNA as the desire to create. It is our nature. Just piddling. Kinda sums up my character's feelings on the future of mankind's survival. On an even deeper level, he believes that good and evil cannot exist without each other. The old "for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction." theory. Not sure if this is going anywhere, and not really positive that I can even make it somewhat believable. I know why a star dies, but actually killing one is a whole nother ballgame. SciFi readers seem to demand a detailed explaination of the science involved and as near as I can tell, ain't nobody out there in cyberspace who has even thought about it enough to comment on the subject.
And I wish I had been where the rumors said I was. Not that being in Memphis Thurs-Fri wasn't fun, but yesterday's travel and today's cancellation of plans have me feeling down and not at all productive.
Memphis fun? ROFL. It was just voted the 2nd most miserable place to live. However, if I'd known you were going I coulda had mom and dad set another plate at the table. I was hatched and raised there myself.
Heh. Well, what I meant by fun was "the workshop I was giving went well and the folks I was teaching were fun" and "the ribs at Rendezvous were really good."
They did live up to the advertising "Best ribs in the South!" The two folks I had dinner with both had the chicken and enjoyed it, but I had to try the ribs.
Anthony, if you really want to have some fun attend the 4th of July BBQ cooking contest in Memphis. Good food, good music, and fireworks right down on the river...and beers! What more could a fella ask for?
