It is not unusual for me to have a blue Monday (don't wanna go to work, don't want to be limited re: talking to N, etc), but today has been ridiculous. I was (until reading [livejournal.com profile] humming_along's post) contemplating a nice little whinefest, but that is really...boring.

So, just a general catch-up post of what I've been up to, since it has been a few days.

This weekend, my friend Holly and I (we have known each other since we were five, and are now in our 40's, heh) ran/walked the Fort Worth Zoo Fun Run. I woke up reluctant to participate as I had not slept well the night before, but being the trooper I am, I got my running shoes on and headed for the zoo.

I wish I had had a chip so I could've recorded my time on the website, but lol looking at the times similar to mine, I would've come in at, oh, around 1300th place. This is a huge race that winds through the zoo, and up and down hills, but damn, 48 minutes some odd seconds for a 5k sucks! It was fun though, and next year I plan to do better (and get a chip). We ran part of it--which left me bloody sore the rest of the weekend AND today. Am starting to feel a bit better though. Finally.

Writing--am slowly getting my fic together for the ficfest Nick made me sign up for, but am super unhappy with how I'm writing right now. Been doing a lot of rewriting on my monster fic, and it is as if that is ruining(!!!) my ability to just LET GO AND WRITE!!!! Argh. Frustrations with the rewrite certainly don't help--am at the point where I just feel like chunking the whole project and going back to ballet boy. Rereading it some today has made me miss it, badly.

Dogs. OMG Maddox FLIES now! He can leap so high when we are playing rope-ball, it freaks me out. But I love it! His energy level is huge, and now that he has lost his winter fluff, I can see just how lean and powerful he is. I love that dog. Shelby is still...fat. LOL. But she plays hard, very hard, so maybe has lost a lb. or two.

Sister and her daughter are coming to visit in two weeks. She still hasn't told our dad.

My MIL is still being weird about my refusal to have anything to do with her psycho daughter. Who will call first? I wonder...

I think I shall go have a cup of tea, soak in the tub, read a little, and call it a night. Maybe tomorrow my brain will be in the mood to be creative...it is sorely lacking right now!

Get ya a sled on wheels and teach them puppies to mush. On second thought...maybe not. I'd hate to see you on the news.

Congrats on entering the run!

Is Sister not telling Dad a good "let's surprise him" or a bad "we don't want him to know we're in town?"

Writing. hmmm. Might have to try that again one of these days. Enjoying the hell out of all the reading I've been doing, and the housecleaning. Yes. That is going well, including purging the past ... it is so cathartic to shred letters from people connected to The Former Job, to rid myself of reminders, so that I can focus on taking joy in the people who are still a part of my life.
