I never thought 11,271 words could be so exhausting, but it is DONE! It is a crossover fic, Being Human and Torchwood, Andy being my character of choice, of course. (Some know my Fear of Writing Jack and Ianto--shiver!!! No thanks!). But George of BH is the POV character, and it is his story. I hope I get some readers. It is my first fic posted in what feels like years...IS years, because I don't count the 2 HP fics I did. I am not a fan of HP so didn't care much, just did those because someone asked me to. Of course someone asked me to do this, too, and I balked until I saw the 'anyfandom' prompts. Grin. Then I said, "Okay!"

lgbtfest 's journal. I missed my posting day by one day, but that is okay. They're very gentle regarding posting, granting amnesty days for those who simply aren't done on time. Just go to that if you are interested...its not like I have anything else in there! It was nice to finally use that LJ properly.
Tomorrow (uh, today) I plan to post it in Andy-centric TW comms, and will be hunting down Being Humans as well.
I loved writing this fic. As a (former) anti-canon writer, I found it freakily hellaciously FUN to write a character (George) for whom there is a complicated canon in place. I know so much about him, yet there is so much I "don't* know...basic things, like who his parents are, does he have siblings, what did he hope for in life after he finished his studies...he was so close to being done, then WHAM! Sigh. Poor George
I love his inner struggles with being a werewolf (which he actually calls It or the wolf, as if it were a separate being inhabiting his body though by no means in peaceful co-existence). Most werewolf stories I've read the terrible self-hatred (or wolf-hatred) doesn't exist, or play such a major role as does with George. He is a tragic character who craves control and order in his life, but thanks to the wolf, he can't have control and order at all. It tears him apart, and I love it.
In another note, I find myself becoming a bit aggravated over the critical complaints I've seen regarding the Star Trek movie. I realize not everyone goes into seeing this movie (ahh, now I want to write film, not movie) with the history I have--an original fan, very much around when the show was first being aired in syndication on the television--but for me, the writer(s) of this movie did a fantastic job of staying as true as they possibly could to what made the first series special. So, that being said, I hope those of you who might read the reviews that are critical of this or that, Uhura wearing a short skirt still, okay yeah so I see LOTS of short skirts around me these days, and quite more flesh than two well-shaped legs, and not every woman in that cast wore short uniforms--hell, if I looked like Uhura I would too! She looked fantastic! She was HOT! Hot and smart and damn savvy... LOL Ahem...I hope you will give the movie a chance, and go to see it with the bright shiny enthusiasm and hope that the original creator, Gene Roddenberry, was trying to foster in a time when peace and hope and love and understanding was sorely needed and wanted but so very hard to find. Ahhh, the '60's!!!
I frankly think Gene Roddenberry would've been pleased with this, especially with seeing the message of Star Trek continue on with new generations. (except maybe he'd scratch his head a bit re: that one companion of Scotty's, but...he WAS funny, so...LOL).
And on that note, with a mug of Sleepytime Tea in me, I am going to pass out now. Goodnight, all!
