I had the pleasure and the honor of beta'ing [personal profile] blue_fjords' Big Bang Fic,The Thing with Feathers that Perches in the Soul.. You must go read it! It is Tosh-centric, which is always sweet (OH TOSH! SNIFF!). It was alot of fun to help Blue out with this though I thought she was nuts to ask ME. But it was a good experience, I learned alot from the whole process. So here's the link--read now and COMMENT cuz that will make Blue happy.  I absolutely love her beasties...and I can't say another word but I think everyone will enjoy this. AND IT IS TOSH!  Sigh. Love her.

Okay so far I've read one other TW Big Bang fic that I just have to recommend like crazy, by [livejournal.com profile] valderys  titled Perihelion Variations, recc'd to me by [livejournal.com profile] cruentum . It is found here.  Can't say enough about this fic. I know alot of people love fics with porn, others like fluffy, but give me an angsty, twisty fic that satisfies my plot kink and I am YOURS FOR LIFE!   This story does that for me, and does it VERY well indeed.  Jack, Ianto, a John Hart to die for and a lot of surprises, two timeli;nes and the future of the world at stake? Oh yeah!  There is much, much in this fic to tug at the heart, and it is wonderfully written, wonderfully beta'd by [livejournal.com profile] smirnoffmule (and I know that is wonderfully beta'd because the author gives big nods to Smirn for her help. Brilliant!).

I really have come to love this fandom.  Next up to read is [livejournal.com profile] etharei's fic, recommended by [personal profile] amand_r.  It looks like it will be good too!

And for a change of pace...do you like bandom fanfics? If so, I have to recommend my darling KL's  My Chemical Romance bandombigbang fic,  They Came from Outer Jersey, found here.  I don't know a thing about this fandom, but it was written by KL so therefore it was a must-read.  Vampires! Music! Hot boys and cool chicks, and evil beasties that are sorta zombies...  LOL.  It's alot of fun (love her setup too) and so try it if it sounds like you'd enjoy.   I'm a former bandom writer, so it really made me grin alot.  I do miss that old fandom of mine, but its time is done.

And on to other things...

This restlessness is SLAYING me! Am super-antsy today, just walking around, tossing stuff in suitcase, waiting on laundry, ricocheting from computer to computer, to the kitchen, outside then inside...the house is a mess but what is the point of leaving it spotless given there will be anywhere from 2-9 teenage boys here all the time I'm gone? (My house is the house for card games, and of course I love it!)

One is living with us temporarily--his family's house has scary mold situation, and then the a/c went out and the part hasn't come in, so they can't address the mold until the a/c is fixed...oy!  So I have an extra. Barely notice him. I just love having the boys over here all the time...I KNEW buying that tall table with the extra chairs was a good idea!  (it is rather beat to pieces, but that is okay--I like having The House to Go To).

Good thing I guess that I'm going to Ranger's baseball game tonight with Tiff, Brandon and Courtney. Seats right behind the dugout! WHEE! I haven't been to a game since last year with Nick--the first night he got here even. LOL. It was fun but HOT and it will be VERY HOT tonight. (Kinda looking forward to sitting in those seats--am about 40 lbs. smaller...). What to eat there though? A hot dog? Sans the bun but then what is a ballpark hot dog without the bun? Decisions decisions!

Okay gotta fold laundry, then take a wee nap.  Tonight will be pretty draining, so gotta get ready.  LOL.

Oh and hey, all you guys have to entertain Nick while I'm flying, okay? He will be REALLY antsy then!

C, not quite counting the hours yet, but it is getting close

Do!

And you confused me--didn't realize you had an lj for bandom stuff. I was worried I'd read the wrong fic or something! LOL. I had to double-check my freakout even though we'd talked about the fic. I am a dork!

I do! Because I've become paranoid in my old age. I wrote a fic for Yuletide last year that ended up being FOR someone who knew the editor of the original work and wanted to share it with him. Of course, the AUTHOR of the original work, who is very close with the editor, is um...Gerard. So. In the event that I get to actually meet either Gerard or the Editor in a professional capacity in the future (because I'd love to work for his publishing company, hiiiii), I don't want them to find my porn. >.>

OMG THAT HAPPENED TO ME TOO. My yuletide was for The Dresden Files books, and my recipient is one of his beta readers! I was biting my nails the whole time.

I know. I want to wave my hands and say "you're getting the chocolate in the peanuts butter!" and then I remember that I like chocolate and peanut butter.

Forgot to say...I've known a couple of people who beta'd his other series. He reallllllyyy likes betas. Alot.

Saw him at a writer's con, just back when he sold Harry for the telly. Am sad that it didn't last longer than it did.

Bob the Skull Rules!

Bob the skull was so much better than that ghost bullshit they did for the show.

At least Jim got PAID, which sometimes, is all that matters.

Nods. Have you read the other series? I've only read a few of the Harry ones, but I did like them alot. He (Butcher) is super-personable and genuinely super-enthusiastic about helping others. Seriously super-genuine.

Gotta love that.

He said they could not spend the $$$$ on making Bob the Skull exist as in the books. Sad.

Yeah, scifyiwhateverspelling has to save their money to make blockbuster films like MANSQUITO.

I haven't read Codex Alera, and it's because I hate high fantasy. I'm bad like that. I barely got through the LotR trilogy.

I loved LOTR, but most high fantasy makes me scream. My favorite books are GRRM, which are harsh and brutal so I like that, and Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel books.

I would love to find a fantasy series I can't stop reading. I tried the urban fantasies--the kick-ass chicks--but got tired of them quickly, though I do love a few authors (like P. Briggs) and will buy whatever they have. Generally though, sadly enough, just go meh.

The Shakespeare...dang it no time right now...but I've started, and set aside for quite awhile now, a Shakespeare-inspired fantasy. Plotted the whole thing out brilliantly and then...went crackers. lol

Ooh, baseball! It is perfectly acceptable, btw, to use bun as hot dog holder without eating it. Pretty serious breadfail as a rule, anyway. You can always take a couple of bites at the end for the principle of the thing.

TBB has some real winners this round, and etharei's fic has one of the most interesting premises -- very sci-fi and Whoish, and a really interesting twist on J/I. Adored valderys' fic (pacing of it was stunning, so tough with the two timelines), and you've just reminded me I need to go leave Blue a love letter on hers.

Really, could use a long plane ride myself just to catch up on fic. Very, very envious about your getting to see at least part of CoE in Wales, too! And we'll all tweet-bomb Nick while you're airborne.

YES I used to have a great icon a friend made--omg I need to find that--dedicated to baseball pants. Srsly--the summer before my husband died, we were at baseball games CONSTANTLY. We couldn't go far from hospitals, so we Did Baseball that summer.

I love talking to the people around us. So much fun! And I took Nick and it was WONDERFUL to be able to take him to a game. He wore a NY shirt and I wore a Rangers. LOL! It was nuts!

Yankees won. HISS.

this is totally random and has nothing to do with what you wrote but i think it was you that mentioned you were looking for a foldable water bowl for your dogs? if you are and you have a facebook account you can "become a fan" of cloud star (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cloud-Star/49106720750#/pages/Cloud-Star/49106720750?ref=mf) and then email them and they are giving out free bowls while supplies last. it's a great little promotion.

and if it wasn't you who was on the hunt for foldable doggie water dishes then totally ignore this. :P

The only Big Bang fic I've read so far is etharei's, and I have to second your rec. Fantastic, really enjoyed it. valderys and blue_fjords' fics are next up, after copperbadge. It'll take me ages to read all of the stuff there! I made a vid for the Ianto gender-swap story, Turn Into, by rhi (vipersweb) and the draft I read was very good, but haven't read the final version yet.
