I miss Livejournal. The LJ of old, that is, from about two, three years ago, before Twitter (which I love) and before Tumblr (which I don't care about). So much fracturing of thoughts and words these days, in little bytes here and there... I miss sharing myself with others, and miss others sharing with me.
I track a few people here who also post on LJ but more and more people seem to be creeping over here for good. I may do the same, may try cross-posting, but this last month I wrote two posts and it was so nice to get comments, so...
I won't leave LJ - too many people there who are only there - but I want to be more active. I think having a place to express oneself (not like FB which also wants only short bytes) is good for me.
So, that's why this post, to say hello Dreamwidth, to start adding people here, to see if there is a sense of community here that I can be a part of, as I miss it, dearly.
It feels weird to do this without Nick but even he is grumbling about LJ - he hasn't posted there since August but also still keeps track of certain things there. So maybe he will buff up his too, but I need this. Miss it too much, and found, sigh, that my 'author blog' does little to make me feel happy. I don't like writing it. LOL. I may revamp that and just start posting things here and cross-posting to that too. There's a thought!
Anyway. Hello DW, hello DW peeps. Good to see you.

Date: 2013-01-02 09:24 pm (UTC)I don't want to cut myself off from LJ and LJ-only friends either, but I am spending less and less time there, and definitely not adding new people. The constant ads are wearing me down, and too many of the recent redesigns have been horrible.

Date: 2013-01-03 01:32 am (UTC)It's quieter here than on LJ, even given the exodus to Twitter and Tumblr, but since my unofficial motto is "It is what you make of it", I try to comment more here and to read folks who are on both platforms here in preference to LJ. Still, there are some nifty features here that LJ hasn't caught up to yet, and the ad-free part is awesome.
You're not the only person who's starting to return to long(er) form posting, so perhaps things will get a bit more lively on DW in the coming year. Either way, I look forward to reading more posts from you!

Date: 2013-01-03 01:51 am (UTC)So am giving this a go, and we'll see what happens. I get so busy that I can't keep up with anything but slowing down and taking deep breaths and just relaxing is so important.
I like your motto :)
