Okay I should say that everything IS going to be okay, no one was hurt...but just when life was settling down and I was starting to panic less about being a single mom of two with two in college (ok son not yet, but soon enough), of course Something Else Had to Happen to knock me off that, in the form of my son wrecking the car tonight. Fortunately, he hit a BMW SUV, it was a slick-road-because-of-rain type of accident (braking for a stoplight, on a hill), the BMW didn't have a single mark on it, the driver was nice about it. It happens. Kelly is not a crazy teenage driver believe it or not, and he started to brake, and slippy slid right into the BMW SUV. That thing is a tank! A sensor was knocked out--probably less than 100 to fix it. No problem. Gave him the insurance information and that was that.

But, sigh, my car. Mind you, this poor car has a big KICK ME sign on it or something. It's been hit twice on the passenger side (Nick was in it the second time), a stick took my driver's side mirror out, a recalled computer proved it indeed needed to be recalled (just when my daughter's car was in the shop from being hit), and now this. WHAM! *cries* I love my car and am tired of it being abused! It is a Sport Corolla, navy blue, and is a very nice looking car. I love it. I really do. So I am Very Very Sad it has a boo boo now. A big one. Sigh.

I will look on www.monsterparts.com tomorrow to replace the grill (dealer would probably cost 400 for a 40 dollar part, uh no thanks?), and I'll take it by the guy who did such a lovely job on Tiff's car, and get an estimate for what it would take to straighten the hood back out. I actually popped part of it back into place myself, and don't anticipate it will cost much. It won't open now though (which is okay--better than it not latching at all) so it isn't dangerous to keep driving it. Whew!

So, we'll deal with that part after the trips. Son feels terrible, he prides himself on his good driving, but slippery roads happen everywhere. It happens. I'm calling the insurance company tomorrow and putting full coverage back on my car. Of course, I'd just taken it off. Stupid. Cars oh cars, you eat me alive, but here we have to have them.

Otherwise--everything is great, really. The kids' trips are paid for (Tiff paid for her own), and they're getting way excited. They'll be gone ten days to Italy. The long wait for me to see Nick again is almost over too, and I can't express how much this means to us. I don't talk about it much, and we make it look easy I think, but it is so damn hard being apart all the time, and we have to jump through alot of hoops and plan a heck of a lot to be able to get our barely over a week or so every nine months thereabouts together. It is worth it though, it is worth giving up other things, and make sacrifices in order to spend those magical days together (and see really amazing places too I never, ever thought I would get to see--Berlin! Berlin again! Hamburg! Cardiff! London! and here in the States, San Francisco! Universal Studios in Florida! Austin! San Antonio!).

In order to chill, calm down, and stop myself from screaming, Nick and I watched Shark Attack 3 together. I have to admit for a terrible movie it is so very entertaining. It really is good for lifting the spirits and making one smile when smiling seems elusive. Oh JB, you crazy man, I am glad you did that movie. LOL. The dialogue was horrid, the audio sucked, the special effects? OY! But I laughed, and that's all that mattered.

Sigh--what a night. What a night.

I'm sorry to read about what happened, as least no one was hurt.

I have promised myself not to ever see Shark Attack 3, I don't like JB too much too watch it. Desperate Housewives is a separate thing since I did use to watch it and really loved it. I just see it as an excuse.

now I have to get on with this RPF I'm working on.

LOL he is SO JACK in Shark Attack, which proves...something? I dunno. Grin. Thanks babe! I woke up being optimistic--sure enough, car grill $43! I will order it today, and once that is in there it won't look quite the ghetto-car anymore. Yeah.

I used to watch DH also. I have heard alot of people say that. Is the show dying a slow death? :)

I don't think so, it's only because series 2 sort of suck and just didn't bother to go back. I think it's alright now but we'll see since I've only seen the first episode of series 6 so far.

I tell ya, I wish we didn't have to have cars, but here it is impossible to function without. Am sorry about your bicycle, sigh...my daughter's got stolen her second week at OU. She was not attached to it but sure was annoyed. But then OU annoyed her anyway... Thanks babe, and you hang in there.

Yes my poor car!!! The joys of dependence on vehicle. Yeah I tell you, that BMW SUV? I am surprised the guy just didn't blow it off. I'll call my insurance this morning and tell them about it (lol mine is State Farm but is a Burleson office, which is run by some really nice small-town-types). Am mostly glad their car wasn't hurt.

Do I have to go to work today? yeah, I better get in shower. Boo.

Oh, noes! What a pain. :(

At least the damage was only financial and no one was hurt -- only your son's pride! But even a little bump is a hassle to get sorted out. I'm glad you managed to have a laught with Nick over the silly film.

Ever seen that? It is lolarious (and so is that word). Yes, bruised pride, "I WILL GET A JOB AND PAY FOR IT" etc. Sniffles, my poor front end. At least the lights are fine. Whew.

I'm so sorry about your car. I'm glad your son is OK, though. Slippery roads are scary and sometimes things just happen.

I am so amused that in the list of exciting places to visit you've mentioned San Antonio. When I was a kid I wanted to be as far from here as possible because it was boooooooring. :)

I remember when V was still working the corporate job and was spending virtually the whole summer (when I was off) in meetings in other states. So many evenings spend hanging on the telephone. It's wrenching to have just that long distance communication when you want so badly to be together. *hugs*

Thanks used :) Okay it sounds better to say Thanks Opal. Someday, going to ask how you came up with your user name. Mine is dorky, but Nick decided on it because he didnt' like anything I came up with. Hmph.

Oh I know--grin--that WAS last on the list, but Nick and I did go a few times, so it had to be on there. LOL. There isn't much to do there though. Walk the river walk and eat Mexican food--which I can do here. Austin...walk around and eat whatever. I don't know, my daughter wants to move there but maybe whatever job she lands will be far far away. Who knows. Someplace cool I can visit. LOL.

Nice that you had JB's cheesy dialogue in Shark Attack 3 to take your mind off it.

Oh cheesy indeed! Yeah--I swear, I have never been a 'okay everything is wonderful so something bad is gonna happen to ruin it' type of person but it sure felt like I should've been yesterday! Cuz it did! But am happy I found the grill for 43 bucks, and will get that taken care of. The hood can wait a couple of months. I'll take a picture of it and post it later.

Wow, you're up early/late. I know nothing about cars but $43 seems like a bargain. I've never seen Shark Attack 3 but John did talk about it during an interview. Sometimes films that are so bad they're good can be fun.

Up early. I get up at 6. Yes that is a bargain! The dealer's price is $102! And we can do it ourselves. I'm all for fixing things oneself if possible. I even considered buying a mallet and beating my hood back into place... LOL. Okay no? Probably not good idea.

*shakes fist* I KNOW! Enough of that evil meanness! GRRR!

There is nothing worse than getting that 'uh, mom? I kinda hit somebody' phone call. Sigh. I've had that twice in the last few months though Tiff's was 'mom someone hit me omg'.

Having kids to keep care of is a constant source of worry. Or at least I do, and I'm all they've got. Sigh.

Oh NOES, C. Not another car mishap! I suppose one can be grateful your boy wasn't hurt, and that Tiff's car had gotten out of rehab by the time this happened...

At least you have your trip in prospect (balm for the deeper woes), and could apply some topical JB-cheese ointment in the short term (therapy for the surface abrasions).
