My co-worker said I should call around to junk yards and just find a used hood and have it repainted. Being a Corolla, that might be a good idea. Grill ordered! Hopefully that will get here fast so it won't look quite so ghetto. The hood can wait--can't open it, but I just had the oil changed, filters, belt replaced, so it is good to go for awhile. I'll just have to sigh every time I look at it. I'll deal with it in April.

Thanks everyone for your commiseration and comments--seriously, I really do thank you. Sometimes, the responsibilities of responsibility eat me alive. The way we depend on cars in this city, it is a real pain to have something happen and I swear, we've had a string of bad luck over the last two years. Three major accidents and two fender benders! One of the major accidents was my fault, Tiff had the one fender bender (minor damage, no damage on hers--Saturns are tanks) and now Kelly the other. But I guess this is to be expected, given how much we drive. Sigh.

It doesn't look so bad, darling! I know, though, ugh, we rely on our cars so much. Hubby just blew the transmission in his old Camaro, and it is so not worth it to fix. So we are currently a one car family, which is tough.

*hugs*

Oh man, poor old Camaro. Sigh. I've done that once. Yeah it is livable at least! And I'll get the hood fixed when I can. UGH!

Bad luck supposedly runs in threes so hopefully you'll have better luck now that each of you has had an accident.

I sometimes think the cars' ability to get you from A to B is merely a side effect of their cunning plan to eat all available money. They're a fiendish mix of godsend and albatross.

Glad no one was hurt! That's the main thing.

You can always do a Basil Fawlty and hit the bonnet with a bush until it surrenders.

I actually considered a rubber mallet! (did the bush work?)

And yeah, no kidding. Am lucky to not have car payments, but dang it I bought a Toyota with the intention it would last me 10 years. I am beginning to wonder if that will happen!

I'm just glad Kelly's pride was the only injury. Perhaps your car is an Alpha male and doesn't like to share the road. *grin*

Very glad to hear no one was hurt. If we were closer, Ken could probably fix it for you. And yeah, the mechanic that changes the grill can probably take care of it, too, so check before you buy a replacement hood.

March will be here soon, have a safe trip when you go! :)

It isn't as bad as I thought it would be. When I was younger our car's bonnet got smashed because someone backed into us. It was worse than that. Since then my parents got new cars.

I want this on a t shirt---"sometimes, the responsibilities of responsibility eat me alive."

Yeah, I've stalked through junk yards before looking for good car parts. There is a really excellent on in Austin that is quite clean and organizes...surely there's one around your area somewhere.

Be careful of the saturn, though...friend of mine just had a minor accident in hers, and repair times are vastly increased Saturn went away. You can get parts, but your body shop won't order them unless they are damned sure they need them, because, apparently, you can't send them back.

Oh oh you missed that post! Guess what! My daughter's Saturn WAS hit the day before Thanksgiving, hit by someone more or less, and it took FOREVER to get it fixed, about six weeks. Finally we got it back. If there had been more mileage on it it would've been totalled. That would have been sad. It has under 42k.

Her little car IS a tank--this mostly was the front quarterpanel ripped off, some wheel damage. We were truly fortunate. Good little cars--it is a shame Saturn is gone.
