Tomorrow is release day!!! It is currently pre-orderable through Amber Quill Press here.

Did I post the cover? No? Yes? I can't remember! Very happy with it - the background on the cover was taken by yours truly in Cardiff. :) :)

ItMightBeMagic

It's been a long long time since I wrote for sheer fun, and this being the very last go round of Paper Legends, the Merlin Big Bang, I just had to sign up. I've got to get this sci fi sent in to its destination, then I have an anthology to write, but after that I am diving into this story whole-hog. It'l be an experiment of sorts - once it is done and posted with Paper Legends, I'm reworking it and am going to stabbity-stab at self-publishing. The PL story is completely AU so that will work out just fine.

Other things - after almost a month of being sick, I am finally finally finally just about well. Wow. Didn't get the flu but got The Other Evil - a horrid respiratory infection with massive horrible hateful cough. Am still coughing a wee bit but nothing horrendous. The cool thing? The steroids the doc gave me for the resp. inf. also hugely helped my sprained knee. It too is much, much better!! What a relief!!

My daughter is home from Florida this week - a friend of hers committed suicide last Saturday. The funeral itself was today, five hours from here, but she woke up feeling crappy so opted not to go. The memorial Thursday was the big thing though. So horrible, so sad. She returns to school Sunday. We had Pho last night which was really lovey. She'll be back home for the summer but will hopefully live with a couple of friends... :) Not a bad idea (plus, I really hate sharing my bathroom...).

Dogs are fine, writing is fine - SO CLOSE to finishing this sci fi story which will then be sent to Liquid Silver Books. Ihope they want it! There would be a sequel! The final edits have been slow going though as I've been so sick I'd come home every night after work, do minimal dealing with the house, then crash. Thursday night was truly the first night in all this illness that I was able to function in the evening, and sleep solidly. Wow, how awesome it is to be able to do that! Wow.

So anyway! Onward! I am considering a nap not because my body is screaming for it but just to be lazy for laziness's sake! And later I might go out and do a little geocaching. :)
Got my new book's cover last night! I am thrilled with it - AQP used my own photograph of Cardiff Bay I took July 2011 as the base for it. Am thrilled to pieces! Woo! The book is out February 3rd. It'll be exciting to see how this does - new publisher and all. Also, new me - I am actually putting effort into getting the word out on this one. I love this story so much, love the setting, love that it is going to be out there. Am hoping the Carolyn Gray readers out there will like it.

HOLD ON HERE - LJ what have you done NOW to pictures?? Forced them to be small? I am not impressed!!! GROWL. Fine fine, click the little thumbnail, please. I am too lazy right now to link it.

I've been sick, and at home, watching endless documentaries and Lost Girl episodes. I have not been so aware of something coming on as I was this cold-thing. Sunday night, just... POW! SICK!!!! I had a doctor appointment in the morning for my knee, was to go in beforehand, but felt like crap. Driving in to the doctor's i realized I had a fever. Bah. I was tested for flu as it is raging through this area, but thankfully it was negative. Just a quick illness which has left a rough cough behind. Sigh. At least I've been able to cuddle lots with my dogs, especially Shelby. :)

She is such a silly!

Working on the sci fi now, and so looking forward to getting this one out of here. Then finally, finally! Finally finally finally, am back to actual writing again! YES....

:)
It has been a long time since I wrote a post - or at least long enough that new changes have slipped into place. Hmmm. Wonder if they've fixed my photos issues... #$@!

Anyway, just a quick drive-by. I sold a new book! Not only that, I sold it to a new publisher, after making a difficult decision to seek a new home for this story due to the lack of anything happening with where the story had been. Bad sentence, trying to avoid sounding grumpy but yeah, five months of "we'll get a contract to you!' and then nothing, well... I was done, and attending GRL in October is what cemented my conviction that it was time to move on. GRL also cemented my convictions regarding writing m/m fiction... WOW such LOVE! I am still a bit dazed by all that, but absolutely, the best time at a con I've ever had. Ever. Ever ever.

So, because my new publisher does not let things wallow like the previous one, I got my acceptance and contract within three weeks of submitting, and IT MIGHT BE MAGIC will be out February 3rd in ebook format, and print after that. The publisher is Amber Quill Publishing, and I am super duper happy to be with them.

Right now I am working on a sci fi story, and am eyeballing a couple of other places for that. Then I plan to return to my roots, mystery, and finally sink deeply into a story based on Drake's Island located off the shores of Plymouth, UK, where [livejournal.com profile] cruentum (he who never posts anymore, woe) lives.

Otherwise, not much else is going on, and then yet everything is. Something happened to me at GRL - an awareness that I am more likable than I realized, and people actually wanted to hang out with me. Okay that sounds silly but you are talking Me here, the unpopular kid with very few friends back in the day. The only person from my past I keep in touch with is Holly, and we've been friends since Kindergarten, so yeah.

So anyway, I went and got myself involved with another, local writing group, and through Nano formed another group that meets at the Gingerman, a local pub. :) I have developed a true passion for hard cider!! Finally a drink I can handle.

I also am exploring another side of myself that I have considered for many years - that group stays in touch with FaceBook (gasp, I know!) so because of them, and only because of them, I have a Facebook now. Or rather my pseudonym does... not me! I went to a Christmas party hosted by these peoples and had a marvelous time. Quite happy with myself for getting out there - though for a moment, standing around at first I had flashbacks to those awful dances in high school I went to alone, stood alone at, and left alone from, I managed to shake that off quickly and ended up talking the night away. Think that super shy introvert scared of not being seen as real will always be there, but these people? They see me as real. I think that most of all is what I came away with last night - no hiding who I am, what I am, what I do, and in conservative Fort Worth, Texas, well, that is amazing. A miracle even.

Ha this ended up longer than I thought I would. Am about to go take a nap - Nick is off making diabolical melted snowman cookies with his friends, and I have lotsa stuff I need to do later for the new story, but right now? Yeah. Naptime, sounds good.
