Wow, didn't realize it'd been two weeks since I'd posted. And since I am at work, I really don't have time to post much. So, I will do a recap of the last two weeks!
- Work--been pure hell, due to a seriously effed-up project over which one person quit, and the big boss up in Topeka went ballistic. And stayed ballistic. Is still ballistic. Carolyn (and Adam) saved the project, but no one thanks us, oh no... Though my own boss has been awesome throughout. He nodded his head and encouraged me inbetween my fits of ranting and threatening to quit, jump off the building, go to lunch and never return... He never takes me seriously for some reason. LOL.
- Dropped out of hd_inspired due to #1 and #3, which is...
- Nick is here in 2.5 weeks. I am not ready. Not really. My house isn't anyway, though Nick could care less about the house, I would like to at least start off somewhat more organizing than I am. For three months N will be a part of the family, my quirky little family. :) I am very happy, though sad too--we won't get to talk during the day like we do now. LOL! But there is always lunchtime!
It is sad about #2, as I do like the story I'd started, but the reality is, I should've known something would happen to make devoting enough time to writing and finishing that impossible. It was a wild hair (of stupidity). And besides, have other writing which is happening, and will be devoting self to from hereon out. And, finally, FINALLY, Seaside is rocking for me again...or about to. LOL.
My fascination with Shakespeare and his times continue. Mostly, the times in which he lived. Been reading (ever too slowly, due to #1 above) the dissertation I found regarding the Boy Players. Now that I am getting my brain back, and I do mean that seriously as the last two weeks have been the toughest I've ever had at work, the little bits of all I've been reading (prior to #1) are gelling into a story. Sunday, therefore, since N will be busy with his German girl friend (and that is two words, mind you, lol), will be Stage day. Working title, yes, is Stage.
Been listening to a lot of podcasts--just finished listening to the George R.R. Martin one--maybe he needs to listen to them himself? He gives alot of advice that I don't see happening for himself...like everyone, I'm starting to worry. Surely, a Robert Jordan won't happen to our beloved series...but EIGHT YEARS???? Okay I know he's doing tons of other stuff, but I DON'T CARE! LOL. Sigh. Sucks.
Television show fun. Oh Nick and I are watching too much tv, but it has been perfect during #1 above. Our current watches are:
How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? This is a Canadian production, and the sole reason we are watching is due to this man:
Yes, that is Nick's current crush, and a mighty fine one he is, John Barrowman. (Never mind that Mr. Barrowman is quite domestic-partnered up, and never mind that N is mine--lol). Now, when Nick and I first learned about John Barrowman, it was through TORCHWOOD. Lo and behold, though, there is much, much more to this man than just a telly show. Mr. Barrowman is, well... EVERYWHERE!!!! It is nuts, simply nuts, what this man has his fingers into. Which of course leads to lots of things to watch. The Maria show is fun because he is one of the judges, and is very passionate about what he does, about theatre, etc. It is fun to watch, and we are both enjoying watching the Maria wannabe's duke it out. We were both sad though to see a favorite go this week, darn it. Argh. Just as long as Jayme as the weird lips doesn't win... But I think we all know that Janna will be the next Maria. If she isn't, I will be surprised.
This newfound interest in musicals has led to my creating a list of musicals we need to watch while N is here: Sound of Music of course, Cabaret, Oklahoma (ha ha maybe...Nick may groan over that), West Side Story, The Producers, uh...maybe others. We will see.
In any case, Mr. Barrowman and the Daily Facts is very much a part of our lives these days. :)
What else?
Oh, Doctor Who of course--though now we are on break. Boo hiss. I still laugh that I ended up enjoying this so much. But I have, and I have that Shakespeare addiction to thank it for.
Torchwood--rewatching, cuz I watched out of order, and way too fast.
So You Think You Can Dance. Why are we watching this? Because Joshua graduated with my daughter, so he is a hometown boy and we must root for him. Which is easy to do, because he is so damn good. But we're just enjoying the show as a whole.
And of course there is John Simm love going on as well. Current watch: The Lakes. It is making me mad though as I do not like to see Simm be treated badly.
Other shows we've watched and loved: State of Play (Simm and David Morrissey, who I adore...), Life on Mars (Simm), Blackpool (Tennant and Morrissey). Those are my favorites, really. Also, Criminal Minds, though not done yet (though of course is American television).
There is just something simply marvelous about British television. Really. And talk shows--I have laughed so much since we started in on those, like the Friday Night Project. The others are rolling around in my head--I do not seem to have N's phenomenal memory for show names, but maybe that is why I have N? LOL. My personal memory card.
So...
Just a couple more weeks to go, and N will be back. Kicking Claire (my springer) out of my bed, Shelby onto the floor...poor puppies...taking over my laptop, leaving his stuff all over my bathroom, cuddling in the morning... WHEE!
I can't wait.
I really do need to clean house first though. And maybe, just maybe, plant a few flowers. Yeah.
