I am such a copycat. Whisked off of [livejournal.com profile] cruentum's lj (and you guys should pepper him with pesky questions. He could use the distraction from studying glucocorticoid neurotoxicity).

MEME TIME!!!

Ask me one fandom-related question, or non-fandom related because well I've only written 2 TW fics, in the comments. This can be fandom specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/etc. in general.

Just one question, please, but it can (and perhaps should) have sub-parts.

Question can be as wacky as you want. Ask me about tv shows, characters, fanfic in general, fandom issues/meta, anything about any of my stories specifically. Whatever you want.

So it's special reasons each time. I was wondering because I've been speculating for myself -- what draws me into a fandom.

Did you ask Nick this? It is a good question! What draws YOU into a fandom?

Really, I am not kidding that I was pulled into TW kicking and screaming, with NO desire to be involved.

But that was before I came to know people like you. :)

I UNDERSTAND NOW!

I... if I have a sense of connection and belonging. I don't think I'm really "in" Merlin as a fandom. I love to read Merlin stories, but I'm not talking to people in Merlin fandom who I didn't already know from TW. I feel like I have a place to belong in TW fandom and that will keep me in it. Though I do get the sense that we've (as a group of friends) transcended "fandom" as our common bond, and we have bonds that go beyond Barrowman, or Torchwood, or whatever.

I like some modes of fic more, I think. I like stories where there's characters in a a relationship who have complementary strengths and weaknesses, so that they can support each other in times of need. I don't like unbalanced relationships. That sense of balance tends to happen more in magical or supernatural universes, I think. IDK.

Your second paragraph smacks personally.

I have that NOW. So yeah, I too really like that--in real life and in fiction--just love the way you actually put it.
