Everyone who knows me knows I wanted (yes, past tense) some of
blue_fjords's Famous Blue Cupcakes. Red Velvet, vegan, lovingly hand-crafted, oh yeah. She auctioned them on the auction for Haiti and I was outbid gloriously by several people. I cried into my hanky, then decided to make an offer myself for dog biscuits, which happily went for a very-generous $30.00. They will soon be winging their way to the winner.
Just a little while ago, Tony, the mail guy, brought me a box. I said, "What is that? I didn't order anything." Wracked my brain--did I do some late-night online shopping I'd forgotten about? Kick self if I had as I am watching every dime at the moment (house tax time, bah). Then he said, "It's from DC!"
"BLUE!" I screamed, and sure enough, to my excited and yeah, misty-eyes, it was indeed from her.
He waited to see what it was (smart man, turns out) though I suspected and, heart racing madly, with 'oh well, who cares about the diet today' going through my mind, I opened the box and sure enough! These gorgeous delicious hand-made beautiful cupcakes were tucked inside, lovingly wrapped in brown wax paper. That's some fancy wax paper there.

Taken with camera phone, so apologies for that.
To top it all off, it appears some wonderful, generous, kind and awesome soul named Anonymous donated to Haiti with the request these go to me. That was the kindest, sweetest thing in the world to do, and as I ate mine, my heart went out to all the Haitians who, to hold such a thing now in their hands, would be the most miraculous thing in the world. I am very fortunate to have what I do, to have friends like Blue, like you, Anonymous, and everyone here. I truly am. Thank you, so very much.
(I shared the cupcakes with the boys--they all went for the chocolate peanut butter ones, leaving the red velvets for me. Whee! Two of the peanut butter ones left that I will give to my son, and there are two little mystery ones, too.)
